The Role:
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for ensuring all procurement strategies are aligned with business strategy by directing all procurement activities, developing and implementing the procurement strategy and participating in all purchasing contract processes in accordance with Group procurement policies and best practices. The position also ensures that the key performance indicators that impact the entity's plant operations, efficiency and generation of savings are achieved. The Procurement Specialist reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and interfaces closely with regional Procurement offices.

Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
● Complies with all safety procedures and Company policies; adheres to Quality Management Standards, regulatory requirements and internal controls in directing all procurement processes.
● Leverages global frame agreements and supplier relationships existing within the Company.
● Reduces Working Capital Requirement ("WCR") to operate the business by optimising inventory holding, optimising procurement cycle for inventory materials and re-negotiating payment terms with major suppliers.
● Improves internal collaboration and planning efforts in conjunction with the Maintenance team to
ensure timely availability of inventory at the required time while eliminating overstocked inventory elements.
● Defines and implements standard contracts, terms and conditions, including standard payment terms in conjunction with the CFO.
● Manages the supplier relationship, implements and sustains the supplier qualification program in accordance with procedures.
● Initiates, manages and controls demand management with internal customers for material prioritization (material procurement cycle optimization)
● Leads and manages on the spot negotiation process.
● Ensures the efficient operation of the Warehouse including planning, coordinating and controlling material distribution as required by plant maintenance commitments.
● Synchronises inventory systems (Oracle + Maximo) for effective financial reporting and inventory management
● Ensures timely management and settlement of all inaccurate / damaged incoming materials with vendors (material receipt issues).
● Ensures tracking mechanism is in place for follow up of purchase goods and expedited materials reception.
● Follows up performance indicators for sourcing, requisitioning, procurement such as TAR, savings etc. by trending, reporting, analysis and developing action plans.
● Adheres to Delegation of Authority authorizations and limits.
● Responsible for disposal of obsolete, dead stock and surplus assets in conjunction with CFO.
● Performs other duties as assigned by management, based on skills and competencies.

Skill Set/Knowledge/Expertise:
● Thorough and current understanding of procure to pay and supply chain process principles.
● Good understanding of financial management.
● Has a general understanding of quality management standards and procedures
● Has a sound understanding of international trade rules and regulations.
● Is proficient in Google Docs, Sheets and Slides
● Is proficient in the use of a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), preferably Maximo; P-Card.
● Is proficient in the use of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software package, preferably the Oracle Financial System.
● Maintains a high level of confidentiality and ethics.
● Demonstrates strong internal compliance to policies and procedures.
● Has well developed customer service competencies.
● Possesses strong negotiation and contract management skills.
● Demonstrates effective communication skills.
● Possesses strong analytical and problem solving skills.
● Demonstrates good organisation and time management skills.
● Ability to work well with others in achieving department and company goals.
● Has strong leadership skills and is capable of creating an environment of motivation.
● Is required to work beyond normal working hours during critical periods, such as Closing and Turnarounds.
● Is predisposed to international travel requirements.

Education and Experience
● University Degree in Engineering or Business Management or Accounting or ACCA

● A minimum of five (5) years experience in Finance or Supply Chain or Procurement
● Experience in a process plant environment will be an asset
