About the role:
Reporting functionally to our Program Supply Chain Manager and reporting directly to our Project Manager, you will support our polypropylene (PPA) project team and a large international EPC. You will ensure that all engineering and procurement services including equipment and materials up to $50MM are procured and delivered in a timely manner. Your passion for procurement, strong leadership, and expertise in the Alberta market will be valuable as you oversee the procurement process and minimize commercial risk, enhance competitive advantage, and meet business unit expectations and specifications.

Responsibilities:
* Develop material requirements and conduct pre-qualification activities, assessing sourcing risk and ensuring vendors meet company standards;
* Assist business units in the preparation and issuance of request for quotations, coordinate commercial meetings to perform technical and commercial bid analysis, review bid evaluations and develop recommendations as required for project teams;
* Liaise with engineering and project managers to oversee procurement plans and ensure procurement strategies are in line with company standards, maintain efficient records for orders and ensure that all costs/orders are captured within the SAP purchase order system;
* Award and create purchase orders, and ensure all vendor obligations and commitments are fully met, and as applicable, track and communicate scope changes with engineering and project managers making sure all correspondence and communication is captured;
* Work with vendors to expedite and receive orders of materials and assist in resolution of incomplete or incorrect shipments;
* Resolve invoice and/or payment issues related to purchase orders and conduct timely close out of purchase orders;
* Actively participate in the team and in cross functional meetings and collaborate to share lessons learned, best practices and problem solve issues and opportunities related to the company's process and procedures;
* Develop strategic relationships with project managers and business unit stakeholders to assist with procurement planning and execution and ongoing education related to our supply chain policy and supporting process and procedures;
* Direct external relationships with vendors in support of educating the vendor community on the company's supply chain policy and supporting process and procedures.

Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree or business diploma in a related discipline such as: Business Administration, Commerce, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent work experience will be considered;
* Minimum 20 years' related procurement experience in supply chain management in a large, complex project environment with owner experience in the petrochemical, oil and gas industries preferred;
* Strong knowledge and experience working with EPCs in the procurement process, including sourcing, contracting and procure to pay processes;
* Procurement experience with packages in water treatment, instrumentation, heater systems, and mechanical equipment;
* Proficiency with SAP (or another large ERP system) as it relates to the materials management module;
* Well-versed in performing negotiation of contracts with focus on savings, diversity, value discovery in driving the greatest total cost of ownership;
* Professional designation in Supply Chain Management is an asset;
* Spanish is beneficial.

Work Conditions:

* This position will be based in Madrid, Spain for 20 to 24 months from 2020 to the end of 2022;
* The successful candidate must be legally able to work in Spain and travel globally and within North America if required.
