The Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced Site based Contracts Manager based in Dundee.
The Contracts Manager role will be hands on dealing with:-
Contractual advice and support to the project team on a substation project. (clients such as Petrofac & SSE), guidance to the Onshore project manager, Senior Contract Manager, supply chain management on contractual issues, for the downstream subcontracts.
The Contracts Manager role involves contract management of subcontractors downstream and also providing details of construction notices, claims and variations to support the upstream management of Clients upstream.
In essence the subcontract conditions needs to be enforced, the role will involve drafting of contractual letters to the civils and M&E subcontractors, enforcing the contract terms for claims, variations and notices and performing contractual reviews of the claims and variation.
The Contracts Manager will provide contractual support and leadership on incoming and outgoing claims. Establish & enforce standard change methodologies in portfolio of contracts to identify changes and quantify the additional time and compensation. Communicate changes to the customer. Enforces and defends our clients contractual interests against customers and suppliers during the whole of a project lifecycle, including monitoring and assessment of changes and deviations, as well as defending and enforcing claims.
In concert with Legal, develops the negotiation strategy and supports negotiations. The Contract Manager will support the Legal in handling formal dispute resolution, litigation and arbitration. Notify and liaise with Legal to report major claims and keeps Legal updated of any critical development during project execution.
The Contract Manager will supports senior contract management and project management during monthly project review meetings with regards to preparation and presentation of claims and variation logs.
Actively provides contractual advice and reviews payment certificates, compensation events assessments and contracts administration on the EPC contract (NEC).
Occasional travel around the UK to visit Client or subcontractors
The position is Mainly working on site, (occasional flexibility with some working from home)
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Master or bachelor's degree in Contract Management, Law or qualified by experience
Minimum Degree Level requirements
Experience of working on NEC type contracts in an EPC environment (Energy, Renewables and Utilities background would be an advantage)
Experience in risk mitigation & opportunity management.
Proven track record of management of large-scale, multimillion-pound projects
