Seeking an ambitous Principal Electrical Engineer (Primary Systems) to join a highly sought after company paving the way in providing renewable energy solutions.

The Role:
The Principal Electrical Engineer (Primary Systems) role is responsible for playing a key leadership role within the business, being influential across a range of stakeholders, and strongly promoting the strategic direction of the business. Leading the provision of expert advice, client solutions, technical leadership, and mentoring both within the Power Engineering and technology area and across the organisation more broadly, ensuring appropriate skills development to match market requirements.

Ideally this role is based in Hobart (TAS) however their may be a potential offering to have this role based in Melbourne (VIC).

Role Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate effective leadership through contributing to Company's Leadership and collaborating with resources across offices to expand capabilities in design and delivery roles
  • Ensuring personal effectiveness in role including assuming responsibility for technical correctness, accuracy, quality, value and timeliness of own and others work.
  • Showing a flexible and responsive approach to client and project needs as and where they arise across our geographic markets; and
  • Demonstrate commercial acumen through ensuring that Company's' legal and commercial risks are understood and managed in accordance with Company's' Project Delivery requirements; and
  • Providing early and regular input to opportunity assessment, pursuits, bids and project initiation
  • Maintain excellent communications with existing clients and develop opportunities for engaging new clients, collaborating with and supporting Business Development and Key Account Managers
  • Monitoring market activity and identifying suitable potential clients and opportunities in conjunction with BDMs
  • Actively contributing to successful bidding of projects, reviewing design briefs and/or proposal documents
  • Lead the provision of high calibre consulting services to meet client service requirements
  • Communicating and lead best practice Primary Electrical expertise for effective delivery of the projects
  • Provide direct professional expertise and be accountable for the output in the Primary Electrical discipline - detailed knowledge of Primary Electrical designs, specifications, OEM etc.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline required for admission as a fellow of the Engineers Australia, or another appropriate professional body.
  • Extensive experience in Electrical Primary Systems and Technology products, and the provision of strategic technical and management advice to clients
  • Technical leadership capability, including directing both professional and para-professional staff
    Recognition and reputation for successful service delivery nationally and internationally
  • Extensive consulting experience in managing client service delivery to time and budget, managing business risk for both client
  • Demonstrated capability to autonomously undertake novel, complex, or critical professional work and provide expert professional guidance and advice
  • Advanced leadership skills, and communication skills (both written and verbal)

You will be highly expereinced with earthing design and testing, insulation coordination, lightning protection and EMF studies.

Desirable Skills:

  • Further relevant tertiary qualifications e.g. Masters or PhD;
  • Ability to travel to provide timely advice to clients and support the sales/ delivery teams; and
  • Experience within the power industry in roles related to asset ownership, development, construction and strategy
