The Role:
As lead control system engineer for the nothern region you will be responsible for working closely with operations to managing the design, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of computerised plant control and instrumentation systems, additional duties will involve assisting the northern electrical engineer to provide electrical engineering support for the region.

To lead the development of a company OT/IT policy from an operational prospective (working closely with the IT department) and to assist in its maintenance and rollout across the business, including guidance on automated machinery safety.
To build a support team throughout the region to service business requirements.
To work with system integrators and suppliers to ensure systems are robust and devoid of obsolescence.
To assume the regions technical lead on control systems.
To monitor quality of work from support teams.
Where necessary provide technical training and development for new and existing team members.
Where necessary create new control system software (PLC, SCADA & HMI).
Where necessary maintain and modify existing control system software (PLC, SCADA & HMI).
Where necessary provide breakdown support for existing & new systems.
To ensure that all aspects of the company's operations for which you are responsible are carried out in accordance with the requirements of all statutory legislation, the company health & safety policies, electrical standards and the Electrical Safety Management System (ESMS).
Wherever practicable reduce the company's carbon emissions by installing energy efficient solutions.
To provide sufficient documentation of control systems to enable future modifications by other control system engineers.
To provide backups of any control system software changes.
To provide training for operators and other control system engineers as required.
Additional duties involve assisting the regional electrical engineer to:
Ensure plant / equipment and activities comply with corporate policies and procedures (Specifically the ESMS)
Continuously challenge the safety performance and standards of units and personnel
Communicate and inform management of significant electrical engineering issues and provide advice and guidance in relation to options available
Work with unit managers to ensure competent personnel are available within the region to support operations
Design, implement and manage in conjunction with unit managers, schemes for performance enhancement and energy efficiency with a focus to help reduce operating costs
Set and monitor performance objectives for individuals and teams within the region's electrical engineering community, striving for world class standards. Communicate progress on these objectives to a wider internal / external audience of stakeholders
Communicate with direct reports and ensure teams receive regular feedback on performance including formal appraisals
Liaise with key suppliers to ensure best value in goods and service provided is achieved
Coach electrical engineering personnel in fulfilling their duties and responsibilities and help develop future potential
Ensure electrical engineering organisation and capability remains sufficient to service unit requirements and future business developments
Coach electrical engineering personnel and unit managers in prioritising remedial actions and ensuring close out measures are undertaken in a timely manner
Help to oversee planning / budgeting and control of electrical engineering related shutdown works across the region, focusing on optimising plant and equipment availability
Assist and identify both capital and non-capital process improvement opportunities, analysing their costs and contributions in conjunction with unit managers, Site Electrical Support and Project Engineers
Assist unit managers to prepare and maintain a 5 year rolling plan of asset enhancements to ensure electrical equipment and systems will continue to fulfil production needs
To set up and manage contracts in conjunction with unit managers for the operation, installation, inspection and maintenance of HV & LV equipment across the Southern Region to achieve maximum quality of service at best cost
To conduct audits and VFL activities to ensure company's policies are being followed and to advise relevant stakeholders of any issues identified
To participate as an active team member within the Electrical Engineering Best Practice group
