The Role:
The Automation SIS Engineer is responsible for the TCO safety shutdown systems and is expected to proactively assure that the safety systems themselves are functioning and that automation integrity requirements are met. The SIS Engineer is the person primarily responsible for the integrity of the installed critical automation systems.

Short Term Responsibilities
- Creation of SOAs identifying all IPLs
- Interface and review project SIS designs and review/create SOAs for projects
- PHA participation

Long Term Responsibilities
- Be the primary owner of SIS Life Cycle Phase 5
- Verification/Creation of SOAs based on new PHAs
- Interface and review project SIS designs and review/create SOAs for projects
- Be primary responsible person for reporting and finding solutions to automation Non-Conformance Report (NCR) items.
- Review diagnostics data and ensure automation systems are being maintained and that automation failure and faults are corrected.
- Audit proof tests to ensure they are carried out on time and correctly
- Make recommendations for automation system improvements including adjusting SIL verification calculations, adjusting test frequencies, changing procedures, replacing and updating devices and adjusting training programs.

Participate in root cause analysis and incident investigations

SIS Engineer
Required Qualifications:
- CFSE, CFSP, ISA, TUV or company functional safety certified.
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering and 7 years of experience preferred.

- Preferred degree is Chemical - Engineering. Minimum of 15 years relevant experience in lieu of academic performance.
- Experience: 5+ years in industrial safety shutdown systems

Preferred qualifications include:
- Significant in plant experience.
- Good understanding of process plant equipment and processes.
- Good instrumentation and control knowledge.
- FAT, SAT and commissioning experience.
- Thorough understanding of functional safety and safety integrity level concepts.

Excellent English written and spoken communication skills.
