The Role:
Fircroft are seeking a Data Centre Engineer for a long term contract within Kazakhstan.

Location: Tengiz
Rotation: 28x28
Accommodation, flights, food: Provided
Day Rate: TBC

DUTIES

Be the single point of contact and the sole responsible party for all activities
related to the Data Center.
Participate in all engineering and design discussions related to the data
center
Interface with multiple stakeholders to ensure Data center design,implementation and construction are done safely and on time.
Act as a liaison to facilities and building personnel who manage and maintain the infrastructure systems (UPS, cooling, power, security, etc.).
Be a stakeholder in projects, infrastructure issues, design, maintenance,and operations that would impact:
UPS maintenance
Security
Fire detection and suppression
New server installation
Server decommissioning
Server replacement
Rack setup
Air conditioning maintenance
Power maintenance
Ensure that the processes and procedures comply with the industry and clients best practices.
Ensure proper safety precautions are adhered to by all those that have access to the Data Center.
Ensure that proper housekeeping procedures are followed for all Data Center work and that adequate cleaning equipment is used in the computer room. This includes coordinating all cleaning requirements.
Reinforce the importance of preventing business incidents that may occur due to changes in alignment with OE Tenets.
Work with HES personnel to implement safe work practices within the Data Center environments.
Verify the existence of maintenance schedules for the fire safety equipment, like Halon, and other fire prevention systems. This should be in accordance with the schedule defined by the manufacturer. For example, fire extinguishers should be checked monthly for proper certification and levels.
Ensure that a First Aid kit is available in the Data Center and is located in a clearly visible place.
Be aware of and periodically review the Emergency procedures (such as fire, power outage, cleaning, and equipment moving). These emergency procedures should be posted on each Data Center exit.
Periodically, review Data Center security procedures and processes. Make sure procedures adhere to company IP policies, security policies and audit recommendations and expectations. Make sure BCP and DR plans are in
place.
Create and Maintain a Data Center Visitor Log. Visitors and Vendors must be accompanied by a Sponsor in order to gain admittance to the Data Center.
Gather and post, in a visible place next to the phone, an up to date contact list of the teams that have equipment in the Data Center.
Interface with other company subject matter experts regarding Data Center design and operations.
Verify the existence of, or create, full documentation and "asbuilt" drawings of all infrastructure systems, including electrical one line drawings from the building entry point to the IT equipment, mechanical drawings, equipment manuals and operating procedures for all. Maintain the documentation and ensure that labels applied to various infrastructure systems match those of the drawings.
Perform project work for new or upgrade Data Center builds including rack and equipment layout, air flow management, power, etc. Ensure racks and servers are installed in accordance with the rack standards.
Create and maintain a plan for regular site assessment to all DC/TR, including periodic Raised Floor Audits or Comprehensive Facility
Assessments performed by either ETC or ITC.
Create and manage a centralized repository of Data Center's technical documentation; best practices, standards processes and procedures.
Ensure processes are followed as defined by IT teams and any stakeholders.
Document all issues affecting the Data Center. This document will serve as a place to capture all the issues and their corresponding solutions. The document should exist in a folder accessible to all concerned parties in IT.
Request monthly feedback from the IT teams regarding computer room issues and update the issues document
Service Location/Area of Operation

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Management, Computer
Science, or Engineering with a minimum of seven years of experience. Or,
candidate can have a Master's Degree in Computer Science with a
minimum of five years of experience.
Certifications and advanced training related to Data Center and Infrastructure is a plus.
Previous experience with Data center design, implementation and construction
