The Role:
Description:

The QHSSE Manager is responsible for functional management of the company's QHSSE
Department.

Objectives:
1. Implement QHSSE policies in Guyana in a culturally sensitive manner
2. Develop & Maintain Fircroft QHSSE Management System.
3. Create appropriate workplace culture and awareness of QHSSE issues across the
business.
4. Generate an awareness of Fircroft QHSSE expectation at all staff levels.
5. Develop and maintain QHSSE-related standards to support management in
discharging their responsibilities.
6. Develop national staff across the QHSSE disciplines
7. Report QHSSE performance of the base as required
8. Main role is predominately QHSSE manager, when required take the responsibility of
base manager / coordinator

Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide leadership and direction to minimize the risks in the Company's operations.
2. Ensure the application of the system by all levels of management and supervision.
3. Manage QHSSE advisors for all operations and within the QHSSE department.
4. Assume responsibility for promoting positive QHSSE culture within the company.
5. Analysis of statistics and provide management presentations.
6. Provide and guide in use of procedures for reporting and analyzing hazards and
incidents in the supply base Guyana.
7. Facilitate knowledge sharing through identifying QHSSE learning opportunities and
the timely sharing of the information.
8. Co-ordinate the career development of QHSSE professionals within GYSBI national
staff
a. Contract control (sub-contractors) service contracts.
9. Ensures, in accordance with the Corporate guidelines, the implementation, updating,
review and auditing of the Company QHSSE Systems.
10. Monitors the effective implementation of appropriate Safety and Environment System
procedures and provide for their updating in line with changes in Legislation and
Company Directives.
11. Assists the Commercial, Engineering and Operations Department in their dealings with
Clients in all issues concerned with Health and Safety at work.
12. Plan and ensure the successful execution of safety audits both internal and external
and ensure gaps identified are addressed appropriately.
13. Conduct analysis of accident / incident statistics, identifying trends and suggesting
improvement plans
14. Provide technical support to Senior Management on any safety related subjects.
15. Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident
prevention
16. On a regular schedule, conduct a comprehensive leadership site safety audit to
propel the QHSSE Culture of Fircroft to International Status.
19. Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations

Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

1. The role of the Fircroft QHSSE Manager requires a skilled industry practitioner with 10-15
years international experience relevant to QHSSE, both in a line position and QHSSE
professional roles
2. Tertiary qualifications in an QHSSE discipline are desirable:
3. Bachelor's Degree in Environment, Occupational Safety & Health or Engineering from
a recognized institute
4. A current relevant health and safety qualification (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma/IOSH/CSP
Certificate or equivalent)
5. Full conversant with International QHSSE standards, codes and industry practices
6. Working knowledge in Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems,
Environmental Discharges, Incident Command System, Incident Investigation by using
Critical List of Causation Tool, QHSSE Auditing Techniques, HEMP, Radiological Safety.
7. Industrial Hygiene, and Gas Dispersion, Modelling, Explosion Indices and ISO
8. Expert level in QHSSE Management systems, their development, implementation and
external certification:
9. Experience as QHSSE Management System relevant position minimum 15 years
10. Experience in OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001/ISO 14001
11. Experience of managing QHSSE on large-scale Power Generation or Environmental
Plant, Oil/Gas and Petrochemical Plants
12. Experience in Jetty project or offshore project
13. Excellent interpersonal skills are critical in order to influence and engage
management, contractors and Guyana National employees. Success will be
achieved through influence, engagement and discussion rather than authority.
14. Excellent legislative knowledge and the ability to implement and manage QHSSE
legislation
15. Thorough and accurate with attention to detail
16. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
17. Excellent written communication skills with the ability to compile and present reports
