The Role:
I am currently recruiting for a General Manager for the South East area which is for a National Client. Reporting to the Operations Director East the role, which is depot based, plays a crucial part in the success of our Client's business. Working collaboratively with other areas of the business it is pivotal to maintaining and improving operational effectiveness.

You will be accountable for results, involvement in budgets and own fully the P&L responsibility. This is a challenging and varied role where you will manage or be involved in:
* Building and developing sales opportunities and financial performance of your depot to drive growth
* Building relationships and influencing partnerships with the sales teams and wider organisation to ensure first class customer service, revenue and profit are delivered
* Driving a culture of HSE compliance within your depot so that policy and procedure are implemented, followed and prioritised
* Critically and continuously reviewing your depot operational effectiveness, challenging productivity and performance
* Identifying the root cause of operational issues and developing a culture of ownership, where employees are actively involved in decision making and issue resolution
* Monitoring and reporting on KPI's and depot performance, identifying areas for improvement and taking immediate action in order to meet targets.
* Leading, motivating and developing employees to achieve a high performing team.
* Using coaching and mentoring to challenge staff and constantly build and develop their skills
* Taking ownership for efficient transport activities within your depot, ensuring effective use of company vehicles and external hauliers
* Driving standards and behaviours that continually promote and improve a customer service culture within your depot.
* Challenging systems and process that have negative impacts on customer service

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
If you are ready for your next meaningful move, you will need to demonstrate the following attributes:

* You'll need to be dynamic, ambitious and have a proactive approach to problem solving.
* You'll will need to have demonstrable experience as a motivator of people, with a consistent track record of delivering results in a fast paced and changing environment.
* You'll need strong commercial awareness and an appetite for leading change and finding better ways of working.
* You will have spent time in progressive and successful organisations that push the boundaries and lead the market.
* Ideally you will have come from construction, civil engineering or heavy industry sectors, but we will consider driven individuals with transferrable skills and competencies
* You must be legally entitled to work in the UK
