The Role:
Job Overview
Mechanical Engineering activities are for supporting local chemical plant projects in the Houston ship channel, located near LaPorte.

*Ensure design basis documentation matches company and regulatory standards.
*Develop knowledge and understanding of RAGAGEP's (Recognized And Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices) within industry and complete equipment file creation/modification per these practices.
*Field verify design basis upon development (P&ID review, field walkdown, SAP review).
*Review and modify existing maintenance and inspection plans to ensure data is accurate and compliant with corporate requirements.
*Determine critical components for PSM (Process Safety Management) critical equipment and verify that they are identified in equipment bill of material.
*Work closely with reliability team on production critical equipment and BOM (bill of materials) generation (includes spare stock evaluation).
*Work with site SME's and reliability engineers to further develop site inspection and maintenance strategies.
*Verify and/or create maintenance plans per defined strategies
*This position will function as part of the "owner" onsite plant staff on a seconded employee basis.

Required Education/Skills/Experience:

*Bachelor's Degree, Mechanical Engineering
*At least 2-5 years of Mechanical Engineering experience in the refining, petrochemicals or chemicals industry preferably with exposure to operating facilities.
*Previous inspection and maintenance experience with plant equipment, bill of materials, P&ID review, and design is needed.
*Be willing to learn and develop an understanding of industry process safety management requirements and approaches to improving and managing equipment reliability.
*The position requires an individual that desires to work in an operating plant environment where he or she will spend a portion of their time out in plant which includes working around operating equipment wearing appropriate PPE.
*This position will function as part of the "owner" onsite plant staff on a seconded employee basis.
*Requires ability to work without sponsorship, now and in the future.
