The Role:
Position Description:
CLUTCH & DMF D&R ENGINEER As an Engineer within the DTSE Clutch group, the successful candidate will have lead responsibility for integration and validation of the Clutch, DMF and CRS components into the Transit platforms.

Skills Required:
Experience of work planning & project management techniques and the normal suite of Ford engineering development tools ( GPDS, WERS, FMEA, DVP, 8D, etc.) are required. Experience of leading team is essential. Self-motivated with excellent team and leadership skills. Strong communication skills. Demonstrated ability to deliver within program constraints. 3 years in a related PT engineering activity with experience of definition and development of hardware functionality is required

Skills Preferred:
Candidates should be familiar with overall PT function and knowledge of NVH attributes and their relationship to component selection is expected

Education Required:
BEng or BSc in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. Applications from candidates who do not possess a degree will be considered.

Major Responsibilities:
- Deliver a fully validated and signed-off DMF, Clutch and Release system into a vehicle or platform application meeting all corporate, legal, program, timing, quality and cost objectives
- Lead, manage, coordinate and develop communication between other DTSE groups, PTI, NVH, FCSD, vehicle teams and component suppliers for DMF, Clutch and CRS related items
- Lead the integration of the above components and sub-systems into the vehicle to meet brand specific DNA targets with responsibility for the design, development & release of the systems to meet cost, weight, reliability, NVH and durability objectives
- Responsible for gathering and analysing powertrain and vehicle functional requirements, and translating these into component & sub-system specification. Managing, updating and communicating these specifications consistent with ongoing customer, corporate and legal requirements
- Work with other Ford functional activities to identify common best practice system solutions. Manage ACB input to ensure system integration supports cascaded requirements
- Manage interface with various suppliers from the target setting process through the design, verification, release and launch. Lead reporting of overall program status via Global Integrator and the PTIM teams.
- Drive AVBOM delivery for required program gateways.
- Drive development of project timing plans with suppliers/core engineers to suit Vehicle Program Plans and prototype vehicle phases. Manage the delivery of hardware to support program timing
- Track warranty and field performance and manage ongoing product development to support implementation of quality improvements and cost reductions when required
- Support delivery of Clutch System quality documentation, FMEA, Campaign prevention documentation required from program gateways. SEED knowledge would be beneficial.
- Be capable of working at a high level of proficiency without high levels of supervision
- Good communications skills to enable design concepts to be shared with the CPMT, supply base, vehicle and engine program teams are essential
- Any other duties as required The role will involve travel to suppliers and Ford PD and Manufacturing sites, globally.

These opportunities are typically based in their research and development facility located in Dunton which is the largest automotive technical centre in the United Kingdom.
