The Role:
PHEV Telematics Engineer This position is part of the European Smart Mobility team based in Dunton, with regular trips engagements in Stratford, London.

Positions in the Smart Mobility team give the right applicant an opportunity to become involved in a new and expanding business area, combining detailed engineering with strategic and business planning, working with team members from several locations, across numerous regions and functions.

A vacancy has arisen in the recently formed European Smart Mobility team for an engineer with telematics, software application development and project management responsibilities. Position Responsibilities are included, but not limited to:

Leading and co-ordinating execution of telematics / data collection from the recently-announced 20-off PHEV Van trial fleet, including interfacing with internal and external project partners to ensure requirements are met by the telematics solution.

Develop periodic reports for partners based on data collected from the PHEV vehicles.

Support and direct US-based software development team to ensure European needs are captured and applications are delivered to support PHEV Van trial.

Developing proposals and strategies for future Mobility products or services based around electric vehicles.
Monitor Mobility and PHEV industry product and services activity and competitive innovations, and development of proposals to maintain project relevance.

Report on progress to management of all levels and support approvals for the program within Ford.

Skills Required:

Technical knowledge of telematics / data logging solutions, including remote transmission / Technical knowledge of vehicle CAN Bus operation / Project Management skills, including ability to work within an Agile structure. / Data analysis and visualisation skills / Good team player, enthusiastic and flexible to drive x-functional problem solving. / Ability to work with minimal direction.

Skills Preferred:

Good knowledge and awareness of Global Automotive & Telematics industries and consumer trends / MS Project

The Company:
Our Client is a large Automotive and Commercial Vehicle OEM, with a requirement for more resources across the business in engineering on a contract basis. These opportunities are typically based in their research and development facility located in Dunton which is the largest automotive technical centre in the United Kingdom.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Experience Required:

Vehicle CAN Bus data collection methodology and technology. / Use of Fleet Telematics to add value to fleets. / Vehicle data collection AGILE Development methodology / Planning and delivery of new products and services. / Preparation and delivery of status reports and presentations to support review at all levels, including senior management meetings. / Management of a project from conception to implementation.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Experience Preferred:

Knowledge of company processes would be beneficial / Negotiation with external parties.

Education Required:

Candidates should ideally be educated to degree level or above.
