The Role:

Reports to: Product Engineer Manager

Supervises: Pattern Riggers
Pattern Handler
General Helpers


1. Assure that all related procedures are followed according to the procedure manual.

2. Supervise, schedule and direct the activities of the pattern shop with emphasis on Pattern Riggers,Utility Man.

3. Implement proper training and craftsmanship on tooling repairs, gating changes and maintenance.

4. Assure pattern, core box storage and delivery system is maintained and organized properly.

5. Participate in the Scrap Meetings & 8:00 stand up. All tooling related problems which are brought to his attention in the meeting are to be his responsibility to correct.

6. Responsible for pattern shop shipping/receiving of patterns, gages and related items.

7. Responsible for ordering of pattern shop equipment and basic supplies and outside purchased patterns.

8. Assure that all pattern shop equipment is operating and up to safety standards.

9. Responsible for all tooling maintenance corrective actions which may occur during a production run in Molding, Core Room and shears.

10. Check all new incoming tooling to assure it is to our tooling manual specifications and release the tooling for sampling.

11. Review daily production schedule for Molding and Core Room and work with the appropriate people to assure the tooling is ready for production.

12. Coordinate pattern repair with outside pattern shops and Order Administration to assure that patterns are repaired on a timely basis so that customer due dates are met.

13. Assure that his/her work area is clean and safe above and beyond OSHA standards.

14. Update and maintain the tooling status report weekly to make sure all dates are met.

15. Handle all requisitions, invoicing and keep records.

16. Handle engineering changes and repairs on existing tooling.

17. Coordinate pattern wear program on tooling repair.

18. Perform any task deemed necessary by the Product Engineering Manager in accordance with above responsibilities.

19. Report all unsafe conditions, injuries, and illness to your supervision immediately.

20. Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and quality regulations.

21. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Bachelor's/Associates Degree Required.
Knowledge/familiarity of blueprint interpretation and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
Understanding of Foundry Processes.
Knowledge of basic computer operations, such as opening and using programs in windows.
Have the ability to make gage associate decisions and follow projects through to completion.
Understanding of typical iron solidification process
Knowledge of Coordinate Measuring Machine and other Layout techniques.

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Pattern making experience preferred
Management skills required
Molding skills preferred
