The Role:
Fircroft have a permanent opportunity for a talented production leader to step into a key management position on our client's multimillion dollar maritime service support contract in Darwin, NT. Fircroft have partnered with an international defence contractor that has been successfully providing services to the Royal Australian Navy for more than 25 years.

Reporting directly to the Program Manager, the Delivery Manager will operate at both a strategic and operational level within the program's Leadership Team and will play a critical part in the overall management and performance of the Production Delivery Program. This includes managing all aspects of maintenance periods, to achieve the defined contractual obligations to agreed budget, schedule and performance. The role will be based in Darwin NT and will involve routine domestic travel in support of the contract.

The Delivery Manager is accountable to drive activities, efficiencies and improvement across the following functions:

  • Provide leadership in the adherence and governance of HSE and QAQC processes.
  • Production management and administration (including Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats).
  • Project OQE, variations management, project closure, vendor invoicing and customer invoicing.
  • Waterfront Facilities management and administration.
  • Ensure adherence to Company and Regulatory requirements as well as assignment and completion of appropriate corrective actions.
  • Identification and reduction of key cost drivers of asset management.
  • Responsible for coordination of functions in routine and non-routine Maintenance Periods, Urgent Defects and oversee engagement and performance of Suppliers and Subcontractors including OEM's in support of services under the ISSC.
  • Report on areas of scheduling and planning risks/concerns including deconfliction of maintenance periods as well as be a focal point for appropriate escalation of issues.
  • Providing the appropriate direction, coaching, support and delegation to team members to enable them to achieve the work objectives, facilitate effective co-operation and trust, leading and motivating them to be aligned to delivery and business objectives.
  • Fostering teamwork with other teams across sites and business areas.
  • Provide leadership and actively create and maintain a culture of honesty, ethics, responsibility and accountability across the Delivery Team.
  • Work with Senior Management to implement change initiatives and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in business, engineering, project management or other applicable technical trade field with suitable operations management experience.
  • Minimum of 15 years industrial, operations, construction or production experience with proven organisational skills;
  • Experienced in management and supervision of teams involved in meeting schedule imperatives;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills;
  • Sound business, commercial and regulatory knowledge and experience;
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt effectively to challenging and often changing situations;
  • Understanding of contracted requirements and the application of functional requirements, technical specifications and standards;

Desirable Skills / Qualifications:
Experience in ship building/repair/maintenance and knowledge of Naval/Maritime ship systems;
Successful track record in the provision of operations/production support that has facilitated the delivery of successful projects and business outcomes;
