GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Provides strategic leadership for a rolling portfolio of projects and mitigates potential risk by being proactive in assessing and addressing potential issues. Provides tactical leadership and strategic direction to a staff of Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Construction Site Managers to ensure project scopes, schedules, and budgets are managed for success. Develops strategic project objectives and provides direction for projects from late-stage development through the final pre-construction phase by providing input to the pre-engineering and constructability reviews, driving procurement of long-lead equipment, and assisting the Pre-Construction Department with the construction contracting strategy. Participates in the pre-qualification of all contractors to ensure the best opportunity for project execution success. Ensures that safety, quality, cost, environmental, landowner, and legal requirements are achieved or exceeded while accomplishing project objectives.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES
Provides strategic leadership and direction for projects from late-stage development through the final development phase, approximately 6 - 12 months before the start of construction.
Supports the Pre-Construction Department by actively participating in the contracting RFP process for assigned projects through contract execution.
Manages the integration of development and construction execution functions for committed projects,
Provides tactical leadership for the preparation and maintenance of detailed project execution strategies, including contracting strategies, construction plans, schedules, and budgets.
Ensures the overall success of project execution by consistently implementing construction management tools for each assigned project.
Understands the implications of variance technical options and is able to guide engineering designs to achieve the best solution for each situation.
Supports the balance-of-plant process, preparation of turbine installation bid documents, and the Request for Proposal process, and assists with the negotiation of construction contracts.
Provides leadership during project construction activities, ensuring safety, quality, schedule, cost, environmental, landowner, and other project requirements are met or exceeded.
Consolidates and analyzes budgets, costs, forecasts, and utilization against established financial goals.
Ensures the execution of work in accordance with contracts and policies.
Directs planning and hiring of competent field staff in order to ensure adequate resources are in place for effective and timely execution of committed projects.
Develops effective relationships with internal departments, contractors, suppliers, landowners, and other stakeholders.
Provides strategic direction and manages the development of Construction Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Construction Site Managers and provides supervision, guidance, and mentorship to assigned staff at all levels.
Supports, and solicits input from, staff at all levels of the organization.
Establishes effective and supportive relationships with colleagues.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Management
Preferred Education: Master's degree in Engineering or Master of Business Administration preferred
Required Professional Experience: 10+ years in the utility scale energy sector including renewable energy or industrial construction or capital project management
Required Licensure or Certification: Professional Engineering licensure preferred
Required Knowledge:
Advanced knowledge of construction management and constructing methods for large projects, contract management, procurement, and supply chain management, environmental and building permitting, and transportation logistics
Basic knowledge of construction labor relations throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico
Basic knowledge of applicable industry standards and codes, including Uniform Building Code (UBC), International Building Code (IBC), American Concrete Institute (ACI), American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute (CRSI), National Fire Protection Association, (NFPA), and American National Standards Institute (ANSI)
Basic knowledge of land surveying methods and practices, aerial photography and mapping (including UTM and NAD coordinate systems), and geospatial references
Ability to interpret documents produced in AutoCAD, GIS, and other discipline-relevant software
Understanding of Microsoft products and/or complementing products preferred.
Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise preferred.
