The Role:
Materials & Corrosion Engineer works in the Materials, Corrosion and Inspection (MCI) team, within the Technical Support (TS) Team, supporting one or more facilities with expertise in the areas of material selection, welding, failure analysis, corrosion management, corrosion monitoring, fabric maintenance, cathodic protection, together with the provision of timely M&C advice on matters of specification, design, selection, procurement, application and maintenance. The scope is broad covering corrosion and materials issues of pressure systems, structures from subsea facilities to topsides facilities and pipelines.
The key IT system used for the management of the Materials and Corrosion data and activities is the In-house web-based Integrity Management System, w-IMS.
Key accountabilities of work areas include:
* Manage and update the facility Corrosion Management Framework (CMF), including Project and Modification updated information;
* Define the material Integrity Operating Windows (IOW),
* Monitoring and updates of IOW including Chemical monitoring through interaction with the Facility Production Chemist;
* Manage the Corrosion Management Expert Groups including all action tracking;
* Support the Facility Inspection team in delivering the facility S-RBI scope output;
* Preparing an annual corrosion report for the facility(s);
* Carry out deadleg, trunnion and Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) assessments and report corrosion status to Facility as required;
* Materials selection for facility executed modifications;
* Provide welding support, or referral to welding expert, for facility fabrication scopes;
* Coating selection and support to FM execution;
* Cathodic Protection system and corrosion monitoring;
* Provide M&C, including FM scope, input to the Facility(s) MRP;
* Participate in Ageing Life Extension studies and review work carried out by both internal and external consultants and/or contractors;
* Interface with discipline Technical Authorities as required;
* Provide input to safety case revisions, response to external stakeholders and engage with NOVs partners, when required;
* As part of the MCI Team support to fellow MCI team members, covering other Facilities, may be required on ad-hoc basis.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
A minimum of 7 years relevant experience in corrosion and materials engineering in an operating oil and gas environment is required;
* It is preferred that experience includes corrosion management relating to subsea systems and pipelines;
* Experience in Risk Based Inspection (RBI) is an advantage.
Qualifications:
* A degree in metallurgy, material science, chemical engineering or related discipline;
* Chartered Engineering status or equivalent;
