The Role:
Position Summary:
We are looking for a seasoned business leader who can lead the organization and drive the business growth in Energy Japan. This position has the overall P&L responsibility for the Energy business in Japan. The General Manager will be an entrepreneur - resourceful and able to drive significant profitable growth through effectively managing all aspects of the business from development, origination, and EPC to project financing and project sales.

The main responsibilities for this position are to identify key growth opportunities in the Japan market, develop innovative business models, transform the business to be aligned with future market trends, and ensure the continued success of the business.

Primary Responsibilities:
* Understand the business dynamics and trends in the Japanese local markets, identify key business opportunities, and develop innovative business models to drive both long term and short-term business growth.
* Engage in key customer activities and build up strategic relationships with key stakeholders in the markets such as off takers, investors, land owners, and government officers
* Oversee daily operations of the business unit to ensure the business meets revenue, market share, profit, and other performance goals.
* Lead the implementation of the business strategy and business initiatives for Japan Energy.
* Oversee the regional development and market strategy. Provide oversight and guidance for the pipeline development of early and late-stage projects.
* Oversee project sale activities, participate in critical negotiations, and build up partnership with project investors.
* Develop key performance goals for the organization and provide coaching and feedback to build a strong leadership team.
* Evaluate and decide upon the key investments in projects, infrastructure, and talent needed for the Japan Energy business.
* Communicate strategy and results to Japan Energy's employees and drive the engagement of the Japan team.

Desired Qualifications:
* At least five years previous experience as a General Manager.
* A deep of understanding of the solar industry, power markets, and the key players.
* Prior experience in structuring, origination, finance or project development is preferred.
* Outstanding track record of sound judgment, strong management and efficient execution of complex transactions (preferably for solar, wind or gas-fired power deals).
* An entrepreneurial spirit, ability to develop effective business strategies, and eagerness to drive new business.
* Good financial knowledge and ability to use financial data to make effective business decisions.
* Strong leadership skills and able to build a strong team and support the development of a healthy internal culture that retains key employees and encourages their professional development.
* Bachelor Degree in Engineering or Business, MBA is a plus.
