The Role:

The Oil Market Analyst will work closely with traders to develop and manage oil market fundamentals and trading analytics in support of our growing oil trading business. Gathering market information, conducting in-depth analysis, this person will proactively communicate key insights to drive successful trading activities. A self-motivated, team player, with strong collaboration and communication skills will be imperative in this role.

Duties/Responsibilities:
* Build and update various market knowledge systems for physical and financial oil markets, including crude oil balance, refinery runs, pipeline flow models, ship tracking, crude Arb-Flow model, and financial index & hedging tracking
* Provide timely short- and medium-term forecasts of weekly EIA reports and keep improving model accuracy
* Provide traders with ad-hoc analysis and reports on new market and infrastructure development
* Support traders to develop new trading strategies and tools
* Apply data science techniques to analyze large datasets and quantify statistical relationships between various market drivers and prices
* Gather and research new data and methodology to improve the forecast and pricing models
* Other duties and responsibilities as required.

Required Skills/Abilities:
* Strong understanding of the global crude oil market fundamentals, especially in Cushing, Permian Basin, USGC, Canada and Latin American markets
* Strong proficiency with Python programming, MS Excel, and Data science concepts
* Bilingual Chinese and English, specifically the ability to read and write strongly preferred
* Strong bias for action, moving quickly and efficiently in a trading environment
* Organized and able to work with large amounts of information
* Self-motived and quick learner

Education and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Engineering, Sciences, Economics or Finance is required, Advanced degree highly preferred
* Minimum five (5) years of experience in front-desk crude oil market analysis, preferably in a supply & trading firm
* Previous work experience in China and familiar with Sinopec and other Asian refinery systems preferred
* Expertise in build short- and medium-term supply/demand balances for trading
* Must be authorized to work in the United States, without assistance or sponsorship
