The Role:
General
1. Lead and manage the Accounts Team
2. Overall responsibility for book-keeping, upkeep of the general ledgers and financial reporting comprising but not limited to income statement, balance sheet and cash flow
3. Overall responsibility for all matters related to credit control, treasury, taxation and financial compliance
4. Continuous review and implement internal controls
5. Continuous review and improve financial operating processes, digitise processes to drive efficiencies and promote intra and inter department cooperation
Reporting
1. Review and report monthly financial performance to COO and Exec Committee
2. Prepare and review of monthly financial related reports before circulation to Partners and lawyers
3. Review monthly outstanding receivables, including unbilled disbursements and work-in-progress
4. Work closely with auditor to resolve audit issues and finalise year end audited financial statements for circulation to Partners
5. Prepare Provident Fund workings for audit review and member statements after audit
6. Prepare for yearly audit
7. Prepare financial performance presentation for Partners' meeting
8. Prepare AGM reports and presentations
Treasury, Taxation & Credit Control
1. Manage the efficient operations of all bank accounts including monthly bank reconciliations
2. Verify payments for Office and Client Accounts
3. Manage Firms' banking facilities and related instruments where required
4. Manage foreign currency exposures
5. Work with tax agents to finalise and file the year-end tax
6. Manage all aspect of indirect tax including SST and other tax matters
7. Review and improve billing and collection activities
Others
1. Prepare the yearly budget
2. Participate in any internal audit exercise and report to Audit Committee
3. Attend to queries from secretaries, lawyers and partners
4. Train and provide guidance to staff
5. Consider appropriate actions to safeguard working capital e.g. cash flow, debtors
Partnership
1. Partner's distribution computation and statements
2. Share price computation
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
1. University graduate or professionally qualified
2. Member of MIA
3. Minimum 10 years' experience
4. Spent 3-4 years in audit or tax
5. Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia
6. Worked in a team / led a team of between 5-10 staff
7. Experience with service industry, not necessarily legal
8. Highly systems oriented, had been involved in digital transformation in Finance
9. Personal traits such as work independently, hands on, logical thinking, big picture, tolerant, patience
