The Role:
Our client is seeking a Telecommunications Engineer on a 24 month contract, based in Perth and working on a major offshore Greenfield LNG project.

The Telecommunications Engineer plays a key role within our client's Communications Team providing technical advice, direction, design, planning and the overall management of the Client's telecommunications facilities and network services including: radio / satellite / microwave services, TV/ Radio / CCTV, wireless LAN, Public Address systems, and video conferencing. The main focus of the position is to plan, develop and execute communications projects for the various offshore and onshore businesses and provide engineering support to members of the Communications Team. The Communications Engineer supports the Senior Communications Engineer to ensure the technical integrity of the telecommunications facilities / network services and alignment with business strategies.

Key responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Contractor deliverables in the telecommunications & network space including such as telecom and network system diagrams, schematics, scopes, 3D models, strategies, specifications, lists.
  • Influencing of Contractor outcomes.
  • Main Telecommunications Contractor (Direct MTC) - Own all aspects of relationship and performance with the engagement of the Direct MTC.
  • Service providers - for delivery of ad hoc services in support of the Capital projects.
  • Work with peers within the Capital Project to ensure Digital support of their requirements.
  • Engage Company Operations for their input into functionality and features for systems.
  • Work collaboratively with other Digital groups.
  • Support engagement of teams to ensure delivery of Digital systems and solutions within the Capital Project are fit for purpose and aligned with input from relevant Subject Matter Experts.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:

  • Experience in planning, development, design, integration and delivery of communications/technology solutions.
  • Experience within the Oil & Gas Industry, preferably within a major Capital Project.
  • Strong experience with Communication systems on-board an offshore Oil and Gas facility.
  • Experience with Network Monitoring applications based on SNMP.
  • Knowledgeable with network switches configuration, testing and commissioning.
  • Experience with working on continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in taking a leading role in managing technical change.
  • Experience coordinating work within a multi-vendor IT Operations Environment in a Service Delivery capacity.
  • Familiarity with contract management is required, ideally in the context of IT services.
