About the role:
As the Contracts Engineer in the C&P team, you act as a focal point with assigned client group(s), communicating and cooperating with technical counterpart(s), to proactively facilitate effective relationships, contract planning, award and contract management. This is with the possibility to continuously learn and develop your competencies in monitoring contractors' performance, promoting and attending performance review meetings, recording results and participating in supplier relationship management and supplier performance management activities.

Key Responsibilities:
Overall, you have the responsibility of supporting the achievement of the project's objectives. You are the one ensuring and/or verifying that all activities to which the job-holder is assigned are conducted in accordance with the relevant provisions of the company rules and procedures and reporting any non-conformities to line management. Furthermore, you will proactively manage a portfolio of work assignments, prioritize tasks accordingly and report any issues that may have an adverse effect on performance to line management.

These areas of responsibilities will include tasks such as:
* Propose, pre-qualify and recommend suitable contractors/suppliers for bidder lists to optimize tendering;
* Issue and administer 'Invitation to Tender' packages to procure the most realistic and commercially attractive proposals from potential contractors/suppliers;
* Review tender proposals, participate in clarifications, conduct negotiations and administer the award of contracts also providing feedback to unsuccessful bidders;
* Review and consider legal aspects associated with tendering, contract award and administration.

Who we are looking for:
It is important that you possess a safety mindset and address the job with a strong understanding of the business and people. Naturally, have the ability to effectively and robustly challenge the views of contractors and clients, and negotiate reasonable settlements whilst maintaining good relationships and sharing expertise and knowledge as appropriate. Moreover, this position calls for a strong understanding of different means of contractor remuneration and their commercial implications, practical experience of their use, and sound ability to select and draft appropriate provisions. Furthermore, you know and understand model contract conditions in use by the company with particular emphasis on the liability, indemnity and insurances regime applied by the company and the ability to identify and assess relevant risks and modify and/or supplement standard provisions as appropriate. Finally, we are looking for a strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communicative skills are essential.

Your background:
* Degree in Business, Procurement, Law, Engineering or relevant business area
* Solid experience in the offshore oil or petrochemical industries
* Experience of structured commercial negotiations
* Ideally with practical experience in preparation and negotiation of complex technical contracts
* Understanding of procurement processes including: ethical principles, bidder prequalification, invitation to tender, comparative evaluation of contractors, award, management, amendment and close out of contracts
* General knowledge of commercial, legal and insurance issues affecting the company in general, and more specifically in relation to contracts for works, goods & services
* Proficiency in oral and written English
