The Role:
There is a requirement to undertake a number of activities related to shielding assessments in support of the a client's Nuclear project.

This work covers activities relating to the shielding performance of the reactor hall building. The client has already progressed the bulk of the shielding modelling in relation to this, therefore to make best use of this it will be delivered by resource located within the client offices.

The candidate shall be required to develop these models (in MCBEND) and based on the results of testing, validate the assumptions in the current models. They will also be required to support a series of calculations and dose point assessments for the site.

The candidate will also be required to demonstrate compliance with a set of client specified requirements.

The main design review that this work will feed into is scheduled for early March 2019.

The role requires an individual with a background in Radiation Shielding, who is also fully conversant in the use of MCBEND software.

*Science or engineering expertise (physics, chemistry, mechanical, chemical or process engineering, Degree qualified or equivalent
*Some radiation protection experience gained in an industrial environment, where you will have seen the output from your efforts; you'll have an appreciation of radiation protection with particular consideration of radiation shielding, criticality or reactor physics
*Understanding and experience of MCBEND
*Understanding and experience of industry recognised radiation transport codes such as; MCNP, RANKERN, MONK, PANTHER or MicroShield.
*SC clearance is mandatory
*Based on the client site in Derby
*Timescales ASAP for 3 to 6 months
