The Role:

Working within the Geographical Information Services team, the job holder will support the maintenance and update of key Company geographical databases, automated data workflows and services associated with surface and subsurface operations within the offshore energy sector.

MAIN ACTIVITIES:
* Create, maintain and organise geographical information for company business areas including Geosciences, Operations & Projects, Strategy & Business and (Health, Safety &) Environment.
* Support colleagues involved in the production of complex cartographic products for internal and external clients.
* Perform searches and produce inventories of relevant geographical information and data.
* Maintain and update reference GIS datasets including licensed acreage, fields, basins, wells, seismic survey coverage and operated infrastructure.
* Maintain and update vendor (third-party) GIS databases.
* Maintain and develop existing automated ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) workflows in place for this purpose.
* Support development of data solutions for projects relating to digital transformation, and act as coordinator between different stakeholders (business users, data scientists, data SMEs) to ensure Geoscience and GIS data components are efficiently delivered and maintainable
* Develop new use cases for deploying ETL technologies with the purpose of increasing business efficiency. Design new and robust ETL workflows, implement on local and cloud-based infrastructure.
* Contribute to the ongoing evolution and optimization for the cartographic, visualisation and analysis components of the company geographical information environment.
* Promote the GIS discipline to the user community, encouraging the correct and appropriate use of technologies and data.


ACCOUNTABILITIES

* Accountable for ensuring the integrity, organization, security and availability of cartographic documents and geographical information.

* Accountable for ensuring relevant Company Rules and Specifications are strictly followed where required.
* Accountable for adherence to the Company SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) policy.

SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

* Degree Qualification in GIS, geomatics or related technical /engineering /software discipline
* Experience working in the oil and gas industry, preferably in the E&P domain
* Demonstrable knowledge and experience of successful data management
* Solid foundation in geospatial programming and automation e.g. Python, Safe FME
* Experience preparing and publishing maps and data for consumption in intranet-based GIS applications
* Key software competencies:
o ESRI ArcGIS Suite including ArcGIS for Desktop (ArcMap)
o Safe FME
* Proven analytical and communications skills (both written and oral English)
* Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and to tight deadlines
* Experience documenting standards and procedures relating to GIS
* Team player with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with clients/ team
