The Role:
This position is the most senior discipline engineer within the maintenance and inspection department of the asset and will lead a team of discipline engineers (outsourced and internal) in the provision of technical/engineering advice and support in relation to inspection activities.
Responsible for ensuring legal compliance of installations with pressure vessel / inspection related legislation (PSSR, PED, etc) and execution of mandatory inspection activities related to Safety Case and COMAH report commitments.

* Lead a team of Inspection engineers Onshore and Offshore (OIE + Inspection Techs), with responsibility for providing work direction and technical guidance, checking work/project progress, identifying team resources, setting priorities and time schedule. Validation of Inspection Reports and review of Workpacks.
* Provide specialist technical/engineering advice and guidance to site/offshore personnel on the operation and maintenance of plant/equipment ensuring highest safety standards, a timely response to queries and minimal disruption to operations
* Encourage the reporting of all incidents, ensure that incidents are investigated and action incident close-outs as appropriate
* Conduct ad-hoc technical surveys on site/offshore and at vendor/repair locations, providing detailed technical reports identifying problems and solutions and ensuring optimum performance from contractors
* Ensure all relevant operations and maintenance procedures and documentation are maintained in an accurate and current status and are available on request
* Ensure that inspection activities are appropriately prioritised within operations maintenance plans
* Prepare/Review scopes of work and economic justification for modifications ensuring they are correctly engineered, documented and reported, and that all maintenance activities/modifications are implemented in accordance with statutory/Company standards and correctly closed-out. Manage actions in stream in accordance with priority and target end dates
* Prepare/Review scopes of work for vendor services, make recommendations on preferred contractors and co-ordinate vendors, materials and equipment for planned and unplanned activities, monitoring and controlling manpower usage, vendor/contractor performance and expenditure. Lead, as appropriate, in vendor/contractor audits
* Ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe and effective manner and that all interventions are controlled by authorised persons, satisfy statutory and Company standards and that no hazardous incidents or events occur

* Lead the team and ensure the provision of specialist technical/engineering advice and guidance to site/offshore personnel
* Takes a lead role in technical decision-making process relating to Inspection findings
* Manage the Inspection budget
* Ensure highest safety standards and continuity and optimisation of hydrocarbon production
* Develop and maintain productive and constructive relationships with site-based/offshore personnel, onshore operations/technical teams and external contractors/vendors
* Ensure company maintains full compliance with the requirements stipulated by regulatory bodies (e.g. HSE)

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Suitable qualifications in Engineering/Inspection Discipline. CSWIP/Plant Inspection Level 3.2
* Minimum 10 years discipline experience in the oil & gas industry, including offshore/site experience
* Has completed training and has familiarity with FAME+ RBI
* Detailed knowledge of legislation/regulations relevant to discipline
* Good knowledge of maintenance/inspection systems, practices and techniques
* Recognised level of Company expertise in technical discipline
* Significant knowledge of offshore/terminal plant and equipment and maintenance systems
