The Role:
Reports to Asset HSE Manager

CONTEXT:
Based in the Aberdeen office, the job-holder has considerable liaison with the operational asset sites and must ensure that a comprehensive support service is provided which takes into account specific operational constraints. The job holder shall be required to use initiative to improve current working practice across the assets. The jobholder is expected to travel frequently to site as part of their duties to conduct safety briefings, training, inspections, audits and general communication activities as required

MAIN ACTIVITIES:
* Maintain a high awareness of industry and professional best practice through effective networking, professional organisations, journals, etc.
* Provides technical safety/ safety engineering expertise and advice to NNS Field Operations, Performance & Growth, Geosciences, Wells Construction & Maintenance teams, Production Optimisation and Geosciences
* Responsible for providing technical safety/ safety engineering support to site based HSE professionals and working with them on common objectives
* Responsible for the input of Health and Safety objectives into the annual asset HSE improvement plan.
* Responsible for the input of Health and Safety audits into the annual asset audit plan through a risk-based assessment looking at areas such as legal compliance and incident trends
* Liaise/communicate with external stakeholder where required.
* Member of the emergency response team and expected to join the emergency response rota when required
* Supporting the HSE Central Department Integrity & Verification Engineers with:
o Identifying, risk ranking, recording, mitigating, monitoring and resolving major integrity threats for the Asset in the Company Technical Integrity system in order to provide management visibility on their timely resolution.
o Monitoring the Integrity KPIs for the Asset, raising concerns when negative trends are observed and assisting the Asset with the development of improvement plans where applicable.
o Participating in the Technical Integrity Review Team meetings and progressing the resolution of major integrity threats and verification findings.
o Preparing and / or collating the Asset specific slides for the Integrity & Major Risk Board Meetings.
o Participate in the preparation of the 6 monthly Integrity & Major Risk Reports and DIG review slides for submission to Headquarters HSE and DIG NSR

* Responsible for attending the daily morning call for operations (as per attendance rota), delegating when not available and sharing the information with the team

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Relevant and appropriate major accident risk industry experience, (oil and gas / chemical / nuclear, etc.)
* Educated to degree level in a scientific discipline and preferably hold or working towards a master's degree in an engineering discipline
* Is a Chartered Engineer or equivalent or working towards chartership
* Can demonstrate comprehensive safety engineering related knowledge of current and emerging UK and EU regulatory requirements and oil and gas industry trends
* Thorough knowledge of risk assessment techniques and experience of organising and where appropriate, facilitating/chairing HAZOP, HAZID, safety engineering risk assessments and reviews
* Commitment to develop technical expertise through attending external courses and conferences, and continual self-learning
* Can demonstrate audit and assurance activity capability in MAH management
* Possess current Offshore Survival Certificate and OGUK medical
