Role:
* The well examiner provides the independent and competent verification that all wells are adequately designed, constructed, operated, maintained and abandoned in order to meet all the requirements of the UK legislation and the Drilling & Wells Company Rules
* This involves detailed reviews of proposed drilling and intervention programmes and HSE Notifications, challenging aspects with the relevant engineers where there is deviation from company standards and best industry practice. The examiner then monitors the day to day operations to ensure compliance with the programme as the well is constructed and verifies adequate change management in the event of deviation
Responsibilities:
* Perform the duties of an Independent and Competent Well Examiner
* Implement the Well Examination Scheme and revise where necessary
* Maintain awareness of and ensure compliance with relevant legislation
* Provide training to personnel on legislative requirements and working aspects of the Well Examination Scheme
* Maintain Well Examination records in accordance with the Well Examination Scheme
* Identify and adopt creative and alternative approaches to problem solving and encourage others to do the same, including industry best practice where appropriate
* Act in the best interest at all times and adhere to the values and principles of the Company Code of Conduct
* Actively participate in Company safety awareness and initiative scheme
* Openly question established practices and achieve continuous quality improvements
* Actively identify best practice and encourage an environment in which this is willingly and openly shared
Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Previous experience as a well examiner with an offshore oil and gas operator would be beneficial, but not essential
* Degree qualified (in an engineering or technical discipline) and have a minimum of 8 years experience in drilling or completions engineering and well operations
* Offshore experience with a minimum of 2 years in a supervisory position
* Able to meet the minimum standard as outlined in Oil and Gas UK Guidelines on the Competency of Well examiners
* Ability to develop effective working relationships with people
* Attention to detail and ability to provide healthy positive technical challenge to the drilling and wells team
* Computer literate with good time management skills
