The Role:
Key Accountabilities
- Provides technical guidance and assurance of all Electrical discipline activities performed by Contractor
- Works with Contractor during design, purchase, construction, installation & commissioning electrical equipment and systems to provide technical integrity assurance
- Review of Engineering Contractor scopes of work and man-hour estimates for specialist discipline activities as required
- Ensures that project functional specification and requirements are delivered
- Sourcing & coordination of part time and shared specialist resources as required
- Technical query resolution
- Technical risk management and mitigation
- Maintains a working knowledge of all relevant codes, standards, and regulations that pertain to project Electrical equipment and systems
- Ensures GPO Electrical ETA is actively involved in the project and is consulted on technical issues
- Ensure engineering quality is delivered
- Provide technical input to risk assessments, Management of Change reviews, and project reviews
- Evaluate requests for deviations or exemptions to the established specifications and standards
- Discipline Interface management between contractors
- Provides input to the engineering content of key project documents (SOR, BOD, PEP etc.).
- Owns the engineering content for discipline relevant Tier 2 and 3 decisions
- Selects and oversees the application of engineering codes, standards and practices.
- Liaise with GFH and UEC in the development and execution of completing the electrical design, integration and procurement under the model of a Main Electrical Contractor (MEC) to mirror the delivery of the Main Automation Contractor (MAC) and manage the interface between the two
- Supports Engineering Manager.
Essential Education
B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering or related Engineering discipline. Charter ship / PE status is a plus.
Essential Experience and Job Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years industry work experience
- Experienced in contractor management and project delivery
- Support and endorsement from relevant GPO TAs. Lead Engineer competency assessment completed or well advanced in closing gaps from a recent LDE assessment.
- Deep discipline expertise with good track record of multi discipline integration
- Pragmatic decision maker, willing to challenge and ensure engineering value is delivered
- Track record of delivery and able to demonstrate effective project technical management and leadership skills.
- Must have strong general experience with electrical systems, generation, switchgear, protection, EIT Building design and layout, lighting & equipment design
- Ability to engage and work with projects personnel, stakeholders, contractors and suppliers
- Recent experience of working with and influencing contractors.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the project team, Contractors and GPO leadership.
- Knowledge of all relevant oil and gas industry codes, standards and regulations associated with electrical engineering.
- Knowledge of internal engineering criteria, standards and technical practices.
- Experience in managing performance metrics.
- Planning, organizational and prioritization skills.
- Demonstrated safety focus with a commitment to continuous improvement in HSSE performance.
- Effective at providing leadership, coaching, and feedback to Instrument, Control and Telecom engineering and contractor teams.
- In-depth knowledge of the GPO Engineering Guide, Brownfield Guide and Toolkit, Project Management Guide, MPcp and Personal Safety Practice
