The Role:
The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for various aspects of the mechanical design, assuring the EPMS Contractor Mechanical Engineering deliverables, including valves and piping, during the FEED and future phases of the Project.
Reporting to the Engineering Team Leader, the position will provide technical guidance and assurance to the Project, ensuring safe, consistent and cost effective application of Project, client and regulatory codes and standards and good engineering practice.
Works with the EPC Contractor during design, purchase, construction and installation phases of the Project, providing client technical integrity assurance
The incumbent will support the planning of any future stages of the work for the Mechanical discipline, and will be aware of relevant industry standards.
The successful candidate will be expected to be involved in multi discipline activities outside of the core discipline.
The role requires maintaining a working knowledge of all relevant codes, standards, and regulations that pertain to the Mechanical & Piping design of the facility.
Provide technical input to risk assessments, Management of Change reviews, and project reviews
Input to evaluation of requests for, or identification of, deviations or exemptions to the established specifications and standards.
Works closely with Engineering Contractor.
Review of EPMS Contractor key deliverables in terms of quality and compliance with BoD.
Assuring compliance with the relevant Project specifications.
Oversight of performance of contractor against agreed scope, manpower and schedule for specific areas of discipline scope.
Own and drive completion of specific multi discipline areas, including ensuring input from other disciplines.
Input to key decisions.
Engagement with relevant discipline experts, as relevant to workscope.
Input to, and ownership of some of, the preparation of mechanical procurement packages - specifications, quality assurance, criticality ratings and performance management of the EPMS contractor who will have overall accountability for procurement for the Project.
Accountable for ensuring issues are managed and that discipline scope is managed, ahead of formal project reviews such as PHSSERs.
Degree in Engineering discipline.
Chartered or Professional Engineer status.
* Strong experience in relevant discipline engineering position.
* Strong discipline expertise with good track record of delivery, recognised ability to perform in multi-discipline environment, delivery track record and able to demonstrate effective project technical skills.
* Experience working in a discipline leadership role, managing contractor performance.
* Experience of EPMS environment on major Projects in FEED and Detailed Design stages of a Project.
* Good understanding of regulatory requirements.
* Must have good general experience with Mechanical, Piping and Valve design, and procurement.
* Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the project team, and Contractors
* Experience of client practices, ETPs and GIS's.
* Experience working under a range of Contracting models (reimbursable, lump sum, etc)
* Pragmatic decision maker, willing to challenge and ensure engineering value is delivered
* Actively engages and respects contributions of others.
* Willingly takes the lead when challenges occur.
* Be self-motivated with a willingness to learn from others and work with minimum direction.
* Anticipates future situations and plans ahead to meet them.
* Site construction & commissioning experience
