The Role:
To provide continuous laboratory analytical support, carrying out all duties in a safe, environmentally friendly and appropriate manner in accordance with all policies, procedures, guide lines and work instructions.

Key Responsibilities

Laboratory Analysis
a. Collect, analyse and report samples from all areas of Teesside Operations as detailed in the sampling/analysis schedule
b. Respond to Emergency incidents providing fire tender driving as required under the guidance of Incident Controller/Supervisor
c. Perform testing of water, crude oil, NGL and gas samples as detailed in the sampling/analysis schedule DP.TL.SAMP.09
d. Ensure analysis is carried out in an accurate and timely manner
e. Report results using the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
f. Manage routine schedule to support changing workload priorities
g. As a qualified First Aider provide medical assistance in the absence as part of the site emergency team
h. Assist in the annual sample point audit reporting findings to the Laboratory Shift Coordinator
i. Maintain clear and effective communication channels and work within priorities set by the Laboratory Shift Coordinator
j. Adhere to recognised work practices and procedures including implementation of improvements to practices and procedures
k. Progress various weekly / monthly checklists
l. Complete daily log sheets and shift handover logs

The Company:
Our client a UK based refining and marketing company, have interests in a number of facilities in the United Kingdom, employing around 1000 people throughout the UK and over 33000 worldwide. They have had their presence on Teesside for over 30 years, processing and storing crude oil ready for shipment along with being an established supplier of bulk fuels, including LPG, to the commercial, aviation and marine industries.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Competency Requirements
a. Chemistry degree with significant analytical chemistry content - Desirable
b. Extensive experience in a laboratory role within the oil and gas industry - Desirable
c. Experience of the operation of an analytical laboratory - Essential
d. Knowledge of laboratory quality management systems - Essential
e. Strong understanding of oil & gas storage and processes - Essential
f. Hold a Full UK driving licence and to drive company vehicles where appropriate - Essential
g. Demonstrate effective interpersonal, leadership skills and supervisory competence - Desirable
h. Ability to use Microsoft packages and SAP - Essential
i. Appropriate Physical and Mental Capability to undertake the role - Essential
