The Role:
The Aerodynamics Function is part of the Energy Management Department and is at the forefront of delivering vehicle performance, efficiency and sustainability. The team is responsible for the aerodynamic development of all the clients vehicles in line with the Technical Targets. This involves very early involvement with the Styling and Concepts Departments and continues work until SOP where close working with the Certification Department is critical to ensure the vehicle certification.
The Aerodynamics Function is fast paced, exciting and varied, all aspects and stages of Aerodynamic development are undertaken.

Contractor Deliverables Include:
o Contributing to the delivery of whole vehicle aerodynamic performance utilising sound aerodynamic knowledge, wind tunnel testing and CFD simulations. Innovation and concept studies will also form part of this.

o The contractor will be responsible for meshing vehicle geometries, setting up and running CFD cases and then conducting analysis and reporting.

o The contractor will need to apply aerodynamic expertise to design and development testing (scale model, Aerobuck and whole vehicle) in aerodynamic test facilities (wind tunnel) and conduct problem resolution activities working in close cooperation with Bentley Staff to ensure achievement of aerodynamic targets. They will be able to plan and conduct wind tunnel test programmes to develop vehicles and achieve performance targets.

o To liaise with Styling and Engineering teams in order to effect aerodynamic change in body styles and components.

o Supplier liaison (facilities / CAD & CFD support / aerobuck and physical model design and manufacture.etc)

o Overseas travel to wind tunnel tests and evening or weekend working may be required.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
o Demonstrable road vehicle aerodynamic knowledge and expertise as well as development experience
o Up-to-date knowledge of the Automotive Aerodynamics industry with a good grasp on available and emerging technologies & trends within the sector
o Proficient user of ANSA and Simulia PowerFLOW CFD software
o Demonstrable knowledge and experience of CFD
o Previous experience of wind tunnel testing (planning, conducting, analysing & reporting)
o Good knowledge of CATIA is preferred
o Ability to communicate effectively and work well in a team
