The Role:
The Electrical Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, agreeing and delivering electrical test planning requirements and for concerns closure, as allocated to them by the Functional Manager. This role is responsible for the development of test processes (including associated test facilities requirements), and for the analysis, closure, and reporting of electrical test failures. Problem solving and analysis skills are essential to enable a logical approach to establishing the root cause of complex systematic electrical issues, including using a range of production and pre-production diagnostic equipment. The role will involve a high degree of cross-functional liaison to ensure robust and timely closure of issues, and will require an ability and willingness to lead and drive each issue with the relevant colleagues. The role requires the ability to work effectively both individually and in a team when required.

Main Responsibilities:
1. Analysis of Networking and Electrical Architectural Problems - Responsible for the identification and fix of complex electrical issue, interfacing with technicians and test engineers to ensure correct vehicle repair and both pre-series and series test sequence validation

2. Whole Vehicle Electrical Knowledge - Ownership for a vehicle network with respect to production planning support of test sequences and vehicle repair. Key Root Cause analysis, data capture and feedback skills required

3. General Operation/Core System Architecture inc IT inc interfaces - Understands how all systems interact and their architecture including Prodis systems, wireless MFT's UPS server/ architecture, IP addresses etc. Ensuring the interfaces to FIS channels, online FIS channels, WAM, Rolling Road, Fluid Fill, ICS are supported.

4. Analytical Output - Responsible for the tracking of all related issues to ensure knowledge share and data recoding. Must take ownership for all related issues/ concerns to ensure functional/ system understanding & support for technicians and UPS engineers

Specific Information:
> Test zone identification and development of Build Story to support test processes, including identification of required test facilities and raising of FCRs etc as necessary
> Identification, development and validation of test processes for new and current model programmes, including analysis and reporting of test issues and cross-functional liaison as required to resolve, and maintaining build readiness tracker
> Support build in Pre-Series and Series programmes, following cars through processes in test zones
> Identify, record, and track issues, maintaining master tracker and raising iQaptures and KPMs as required
> Lead investigation, analysis, and reporting of issues, including cross-functional liaison to ensure correct ownership and timely resolution, and maintain iQaptures and KPMs raised
> Drive permanent corrective action or containment in zone where feasible
> Support bench test / module validation and Deep Dive process and issues analysis
> Support GIT test (with Engineering) for both Pre-Series and Series software changes
Lessons Learnt / Continuous Improvement
> Support On track process (TAKT reduction and process improvement) including facilities support as required
> Support Line trials for part changes and approval of associated documents
> Identify lessons learnt and implement improvement actions between build phases
> Identify best practices and carry forward to next build phase or programme

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Skills & Experience:
> Good general working knowledge of part design, manufacture and assembly for Electrical EDS (Design for Manufacture & Assembly).
> Proven experience working within automotive manufacturing or design environment
> Logical approach to problem identification and solving
> Computer literate with good technical skills (appreciation of computer programming and software packages, e.g. SQL database) - MS Office essential, particularly good working knowledge of Excel
> Knowledge and understanding of Electrical rectification tooling and software (VAS Tools, ODISE/S, CPTool, CANalyser
> Proven track record of working with vehicle CANBus systems (Lin, MOST, Flexray) including repair methods.
> Extensive experience of Electrical diagnostic repair techniques and methodology.
> Ability to process supporting diagnostic repair documentation including: Shaltplans / Harness Drawings / Fuse layouts
> HV / PHEV experience highly desirable
