The Role:
To develop, release, deliver and validate the electronics / software and system integration for a range of automotive electro-mechanical assemblies with electronics software content including column modules, steering wheel switches, roof modules, master lighting switches, HVAC control units, centre console switch assemblies, gear levers, infotainment control devices, keys etc.

Dimensions & Limits of Authority:
o The jobholder will be required to project manage new switch electronics / software / functional content together with the hardware owner of the switch component and coordinate activities both internally
within the client and externally with suppliers.
o High levels of communication must be maintained with all client departments including Engineering, Manufacturing, Finance, Purchase & Quality etc.
o Decisions with respect to the feature design and development can be made by the jobholder, however key decisions that can affect other areas and cost but must be confirmed via management.

- Understanding of electrical circuit diagrams, circuit design and system integration onto vehicles.
- Knowledge and hand-on experience (ideally) of vehicle communications networks and diagnostic protocols(e.g. CAN, LIN, Flexray)
- Knowledge and experience of latest vehicle electronic systems
- Conversant with electronic hardware and software design processes
- Familiarity with methods for specification and modeling such as Matlab Simulink, Stateflow would be an advantage
- Use of diagnostic tools such as IDEX, CANoe and ODIS would be an advantage.
- Ideally but not essential, experience in the development of software for switch assemblies. For example;
o Centre console switches.
o Gear Levers
o Master lighting switches
o Column Modules (wiper / lights)
o Steering wheel switches
o HVAC control units.
o Roof modules
o Keys

Other requirements
o System and component definition.
o Experience with functional safety (FUSI).
o Compilation of detailed specifications and requests for quotations.
o An understanding of supplier manufacturing processes.
o An understanding of validation & test requirements of such components
o Understand of illumination design and measurement of interior lamps, switch graphics and displays.
o Understanding of vehicle communication networks including CAN and LIN communication buses.
o Working to quality standards and processes
o Supplier liaison and management
o Experience with Microsoft office programs including word, power point and excel

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Qualifications & Other Information:
o Qualified to HND (minimum) in electrical / electronics but software/ system integration qualifications with relevant experience would be considered.
o The applicant will be able to demonstrate a track record of success in the development and coordination of components and systems.
o A proactive approach with a clear focus on working collaboratively with suppliers and developing a good working relationship.
o There will be a need to work / travel to mainland Europe (mainly Germany), but also potentially China.
o German language skills would be useful
