Engine Test Technican

The Role:
MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE

- To carry out controlled engine development testing by installing and removing engines from the test rig.
- Set up and operation of all test equipment and instrumentation within the facility.
- Using the equipment to perform manual and automated engine tests to agreed processes and to defined standards.
- Minimize test downtime by fault finding and diagnosing both engines and test equipment.
- Carry out rectification, remedial and enhancement work to test specimens in conjunction with Test Engineer and facility customers.
- Ensure the tests are performed and are prepared to the highest standard within tight time frames.
- Perform maintenance tasks on the facility equipment to defined processes as requested.
- Work flexibly to support the achievement of facility objectives.
- Provide additional support to the emissions team as and when required.

SCOPE OF ROLE

- Rigging and de-rigging of engines from test rigs.
- Instrumentation of test specimens and set up of test equipment and controllers.
- Performing engine tests and maintaining records of test results.
- Maintenance, servicing and fault diagnosis of engines and test equipment
- Basic fitting work of test engines and components.
- Support reasonable requests for overseas and offsite travel, unless agreed exemption.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Apprenticeship qualification, City and Guilds or ONC equivalent.

EXPERIENCE

- Experience of engine build and fault diagnosis with a broad engine knowledge
- Understanding of principles of engine testing
- Good computer literacy.
- A knowledge of engine electrical and diagnostic systems.
