The Role:
Position Description:

This role is responsible for leading the identification of faults that customers have experienced in the field. They will be a specialist in doing this during the launch phase of a new vehicle where the data has low maturity. Quick response to early warning during this time has the maximum opportunity to reduce the impact of quality faults on customers and to strategic warranty targets.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Problem identification, definition and root cause
a) By utilising data sources (eg, SAGA, DISS), identify issues affecting customers in the field
b) Prioritise the resolution of these issues to ensure the business is solving the most important topics
c) Define technical problem statements for field concerns by effective data interrogation and appropriate pre-analysis
d) Gain acceptance by the relevant functional area to support the root cause analysis and implement a solution
e) Steer problem solving activity including data gathering and designing experiments to characterise and analyse field concerns
f) Determine root cause(s) of field problems in order that countermeasures can be defined and implemented

2. Market Entry fault resolution process specialist
a) Process specialist in identifying new emerging field quality issues during the critical launch phase
b) Responsible for analysing the data and making conclusions based on incomplete and emerging data by balancing critical factors (eg customer impact, business risk etc)
c) Effective communication of identified issues through a weekly Board report, that justifies the conclusions made and leads to change
d) Track the solution implementation to ensures problems are resolved rapidly

3. Operate the cross functional fault resolution process
a) Be process experts in the cross functional fault resolution process and, where required lead functional representatives through the process to deliver a solution
b) Represent the field data in Quality escalation forums (QMM functional review, pre Q-day, Q-day) so the reason for action is clearly identified
c) Ensure timely resolution of issues raised into the fault resolution process and escalate any issues that are not progressed according to plan

4. Specify lessons learnt / Quality requirements
e) Drive the documentation of learning to ensure it is carried into new model projects (design guidelines, processes, standards)
f) Support the input of previous problem information into new projects and platforms to facilitate corporate learning in new projects

5. Reporting of field performance measures
a) Generation of field performance measures during a new vehicle launch so the business can track performance against targets
b) Propose new field measures to improve the effectiveness of the measures

Skills and Experience:

* Convince internal suppliers of the need to act based on analysis and personal experience
* Advanced statistical analysis of field data
* The expertise to draw appropriate conclusions data with developing trends
* Effective presentation of technical problems to all levels up to Members of the Board
* Demonstrable decision making skills based on data and facts
* Well-developed problem solving skills with experience of application to problems
* Ability to guide and facilitate the work of others and motivate them to achieve Quality targets
* Positive and self-motivated team player
* Willingness to be flexible to meet frequently changing priorities
* Excellent co-ordination skills
* Ability to work on own initiative and prioritise tasks
* Practical technical experience in the Automotive industry with multiple disciplines
