The Company:
Is a leading Automotive manufacturer with a reputation for outstanding quality the world over. With demand increasing and an upturn in production, there is a need to bring further skills into the business to deliver on current and future projects.

The Role:
Main Goals & Objectives:
Responsible to ensure that Electrical Engineering owned functions conform to ISO26262. Engineering development cycles; Concept phase, Development phase, Validation Phase and support through to End of Life

Main Responsibilities:
1. Accountable for ISO26262 compliance of Electrical Engineering Owned Features/Systems
a. Co-ordinate, advise & ensure execution of Functional Safety activities to Bentley guidelines
b. Scope technical impact on components, functions or systems as required
c. Lead & support internal & supplier reviews, e.g. Hazard & Risk Analysis reviews
d. Lead definition & quantification of risk and Interpreting Function & Fault trees
e. Assist and coach less experience staff in all aspects of Functional Safety

2. Track & report status for Functional Safety activities within Electrical Engineering
a. Review Functional Safety documentation & advise as necessary
b. Maintain & keep records on Functional Safety activities, both at Bentley and suppliers.
c. Accountable for identifying and escalating issues and risks to Senior Management
d. Support Engineering Briefings reporting project status and technical points for Functional Safety as required

3. Accountable for project deliverables during the specified timeframe for Functional Safety
a. Report project status and technical points for Functional Safety
b. Support Functional safety testing as required
c. Sign-off Functional safety status for vehicle projects

4. Support the business with regard to Functional Safety activities, i.e. Functional Safety Core Team
a. Be part of the Functional Safety Core Team within Bentley
b. Contribute to the improvement of Bentley processes.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Skills & Experience:
Demonstrable experience and knowledge of ISO26262 and the Lifecycle development of vehicles. Other Functional Safety backgrounds will also be of interest - aerospace, rail, military, off highway etc.
Demonstrable experience as a Product Engineer working on vehicle features.
Excellent time management and self-organisational skills.
Strong understanding of Technical German Language an advantage, training will be provided if necessary.

Practical & Technical Knowledge:
Technical knowledge in Electrical or Systems engineering an advantage.
Developing Safety awareness within a business an advantage.
Technical and Practical knowledge of FMEA and Fault Tree analysis an advantage.

Qualifications:
Degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline, or HNC qualified or equivalent with the appropriate level of experience
Preferably a Chartered Status or working towards/desire to achieve Chartered Status.
