The Role:
MAIN GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

The position is within the Powertrain function of the Engineering Department. The technician reports directly to the Transmission Calibration Functional Manager who in turn reports to the Head of Department. Liaises with all levels in the business up to Senior Manager, particularly within Purchasing, Logistics, Finance and Manufacturing, and with Suppliers / Contract Houses at all levels.

- Technical and Development assistance to Transmission Calibration of all development projects to meet regulations and product enhancements concerning shift strategy and shift quality assessment.
- Liaison with the calibration teams, suppliers and development partners.
- Maintain strong and effective communication with cross functional partners to ensure up to date information is shared and evaluated.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Developing and maintaining technical knowledge/capability.

- Responsible for Flash programming of Transmission calibrations.
- Responsible for fitment of instrumentation to development vehicles and test- beds.
- Responsible for Data Collection from Development vehicles
- Responsible for Support of development vehicles.
- Responsible for the download of diagnostic data collection and validation.
- Diagnosis of development vehicles - first line diagnostic support for customer and development vehicles.
- Support of calibration & calibration tool data base. Maintaining vehicle records and instrumentation records.

SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR ROLE

- Flash programming of Transmission (& Engine occasionally) calibrations to development vehicle ECUs (on and off site)
- Fitment / preparation and commissioning of instrumentation to development vehicles to support Transmission data logging and calibration
- Data collection from development vehicles
- Support calibration development test planning and execution
- Support of specific testing (eg emissions tests)
- Retrieval and analysis of Diagnostic fault codes and development vehicle diagnostic support
- Support vehicles build, update, rework and sign-off from engineering development functions
- Generation of work requests and transport requests.
- Maintain calibration vehicles data base (location / spec / usage etc)
- Maintain calibration tools data base (location / user / repair etc.)

Requirements

This role is a development position, looking for a graduate engineer looking to grow a career within Transmission Calibration. Ideally, you will have relevant experience either through a university project, a placement year in industry or Formula Student. Your initial role will be to provide support to the Engineers whilst developing your own knowledge and skillset that will allow you to take on more responsibility and progress to Calibration Engineer level.
