The Role:
* To create and to lead the generation design solutions for new products in an efficient and effective manner, supporting the department's and the Company's requirements.

Scope of the Role:
1. Design Development
a) Lead the developing of individual design projects as appropriate.
b) Coordinate and develop creative and innovative design proposals in 2D in the form of sketches, renderings and 3D with CAD models or other digital media integrating the Brand values and the Design strategy in the work.
c) Coordinate and develop Design Concepts taking into account new and technical requirements and providing alternative Design Proposals under consideration of their technical feasibility.
d) Supports the Design Manager by collating and processing information and Engineering data to ensure Projects are working to the latest information.
e) Supervision and realisation of existing proposals concepts into feasible projects.
f) Able to solve and propose solutions for highly complex design related problems. Works effectively with the Designer Manager within the design and cross-functional team environments within the scope of the PEP framework.

2. Delivery of Projects
a) Supports the creation of the timing and project plans for his/her area of responsibility in agreement with the Design or Project Manager and the model manager.
b) Leads and supervises the Design proposals in co-operation with outside companies when required.
c) Presents the working results to the Design Manager and/or Project Manager in the time agreed.
d) Organises and collates information for reviews with Design Manager, Head of Exterior/Interior Design and Design Director, and where appropriate give recommendations and direction.
e) Organises and accumulates 3D data ready for review with the Design Manager, prior to sign off.
f) Presents the Design proposals in an articulated manner supporting the project delivery.

3. Problem Solving
a) Ability to solve highly complex Design (& Engineering) related problems.
b) Analysis of design related issues to identify the root cause in order to reach a feasible solution or proposal with high aesthetic merit.
c) Ability to ensure that proposals have full cross-functional feasibility and principle agreement.

4. Developing Designs in 3D
a) Leading and supervising the development of the Design proposals in 3D media, as physical and digital models.
b) Process coordination with the systematic and timely procurement of all required documentation regarding the design input as required by the model build and development.
c) Leading and supervising the design proposals on a model, co-coordinating the work with the involved functional departments.
d) Able to propose technical and design solutions based on sound technical information.
e) Supervising the development of surfaces in 3D data, ensuring that surfaces adhere to pre-agreed gap & radius plans & other pre-agreed technical documentation & hard points.

5. Ability to Work within a Team
a) Able to work effectively in a cross functional team.
b) Includes contacts to the Engineering and other functional departments, as well as relevant outside companies during the concept and/or realisation phase, including Group colleagues.
c) Works closely with Technical Managers & Technical Specialists as appropriate.

Understanding the psychological, physiological and sociological factors that influence and are perceived by the user and the ability to transform this understanding in a concrete formal proposal is essential for the function.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Appropriate Design Degree or Masters
* Proven experience working as a designer with evidence of Design production or conceptual projects that have been undertaken and/or managed.

Skills and Experience:
* Skill to design and develop forward thinking and innovative design proposals.
* Ability to solve complex problems and provide creative solutions.
* Ability to communicate and present design proposals and ideas across the company in different forums
* High ability in design and development skills
* Understanding of financial limits within area of responsibility
* Understanding of feasibility and production methodology within area of responsibility.
* German language preferable.
* 2D and 3D computer skills such as Photoshop and suitable 3D CAD Software are essential.
