The Role:
Main Goals & Objectives:
*This position supports the development of an effective long-term Logistics Strategy - encompassing both organisational and process development - to enable delivery of the Manufacturing Strategy.
*This position ensures the technical development of the most efficient, effective and flexible supply chain solutions to deliver production requirements in support of sales demand. It requires the definition and project management of new developments to deliver functional objectives, ensuring effective training and skills development in support of robust and sustainable processes.
*This position requires the use of complex problem solving tools and project management methodology to specify, design, test and implement innovative solutions within defined budgetary targets.
*This position supports the development / maintenance of both the Operating Policy for the specification of Logistics processes and Logistics Supplier Guide for defining the supply chain standards to be operated by the component supplier base; ensuring consistency with other functional internal / external policies and guides.
*This position provides technical consultancy to Manufacturing and other interfacing functions / customers in the conceptual theory and practical application of extended supply chain processes and techniques.
*This position supports the Logistics Improvement Programme which is targeted to train all Colleagues over a number of years in the problem solving skills necessary to create a culture where continuous improvement becomes part of their normal business.

Main Responsibilities:
* Work with the Logistics Improvement Manager to develop the Logistics Strategy that supports both the clients and Group strategies.
* Work with interfacing functions to develop / implement Logistics Strategy to ensure strategic alignment and achieve Group VDA 6.3 Standards.
* Work with IT department to deliver a Master Construction Plan for the Customer Order Process for the next 5 years that delivers both Bentley and Group business process and IT strategies.
* Technical development of flexible supply chain solutions together with both internal and third party logistics resources to ensure most efficient / effective solutions are available to deliver Company requirements for volume / cost, whilst recognising the environmental impacts of such decisions.

Drive continuous improvement of Logistics processes through project delivery, to support:
* Parts Chain - support Production volume / quality targets with Right First Time, Point Of Fit parts delivery achievement; through optimisation of supplier scheduling, inbound transport, goods receiving, warehouse operations, material replenishment and line-feed solutions
* Vehicle Chain - support sales demand requirements; through optimisation of processes for programme / production planning for all technologies and finished vehicle tracking from end of line (CP6) to Port of Entry
* Supplier development initiatives in highlighting non-conformances to logistics supplier guide, through the provision of an effective supplier performance measurement framework for quantitative and qualitative defects.
* Achievement of green status in VDA 6.3 logistics process audit. To ensure process compliance with TS16949.
* Optimised inventory on plant in terms of number of working days on hand for component material stock.
* Cost reduction within function including third party logistics costs in inbound transport and warehousing
* Support activity for assessment / selection of new innovative concepts into the Logistics process to create competitive advantage; adoption of mobile technologies, leading-edge supply chain and warehousing developments
* Lead projects outside of operational role for business improvement.
* Work cross-functionally to deliver cultural and business improvement.
* Act in role as coach to support Colleagues through their development on the Logistics Improvement Programme

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Experience of complex problem solving and project management skills
* Demonstrate experience in delivering logistical solutions within the manufacturing sector
* Strong influencing and communication skills
* Ability to construct and present a business case for continuous improvement projects up to senior management level
* Ability to benchmark and seek out best practice and apply if appropriate
* Wide ranging experience of liaising with suppliers and customers to work in partnership to deliver "win-win" solutions

Practical & Technical Knowledge:
* Good knowledge of processes / concepts within the extended supply chain:
- Volume planning / build Control
- BoM (Bills of Material)
- MRP (Material Requirements Planning)
- Part Scheduling / EDI (Electronic Data Interchange)
- Transportation planning and control
- Warehouse planning / Inventory Management
- Material replenishment / Line Feed
- Late configuration / sequencing
* Knowledge of the VW Group Process / Systems
