The Role:
Provide technical support on and off vehicle for primarily the Powertrain Electronics team. Working with Powertrain and Chassis electronic control systems.

With the support of a Lead Technician manage own time to successfully deliver assigned objectives/tasks.

Develop and maintain a technical expertise within the agreed domain of responsibility so that tasks can be carried out as required for the Powertrain Electronics Engineering team. Keep abreast of new developments and innovations within the area to achieve this.

Provide status summaries for the direct customers and Lead Technician.


Carry out tasks on a daily basis within the following scope:
* Vehicle/test property preparation for Engineering validation work (i.e. removal of components, fitment of data logging equipment)
* Prepare bespoke test equipment or test rigs to enable on validation
* Carry-out validation work on test rigs or on vehicles following test catalogues provided by the Engineers
* Represent the Powertrain Electronics team during pre-production build and workshop prototype builds to gather data for Engineering analysis, and/or solve problems
* Run Engineering set-up/calibration routines on behalf of Engineers
* Update Engineering vehicle fleet with latest Powertrain Electronics hardware and software
* Run diagnostics and plan diagnostic tests for powertrain electrical circuits and systems

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Demonstrated experience working for an automotive OEM/manufacturer or relevant supplier
* Dealership Master Technician level of experience is preferred
* Knowledge of vehicle communications networks and diagnostic protocols including OBD
* Awareness of electronic hardware and software design processes
* Experience with High Voltage systems advantageous
* Capable of using development tools such as CANoe and INCA advantageous
* Ideally aware of Hardware in the Loop (HiL) testing methods and technology
* A strong automotive grounding and an ability to understand and communicate electronic engineering issues
* Appreciation of sensor and actuator technologies and the methods of interfacing such components
* Experience of working in production / workshop environments would be advantageous
* Knowledge and experience of latest vehicle electronic systems
* Ability to write test reports, feedback reports and technical presentations for all levels

* Dynamic and proactive self-starter able to work with minimum supervision on own initiative
* Strong problem solving abilities
* Good communication skills
* Self-motivated
* Flexible (able to work extra hours and to travel abroad as and when required)
* A valid UK driving license
