The Role:
The main area of responsibility is the functional delivery of Chassis mechatronic systems such as active roll control, air suspension and damper control.

Deliver the functionality requirements of chassis mechatronic systems according to the Technical Concept Description and/or attribute catalogue to the project timing milestones.

Be responsible for the specification of these systems, their integration into the vehicle architecture and their inter-connectivity with other vehicle systems.

Support Engineering sign-off for the systems you are responsible for.

1. Support and Lead Design Development
* Advanced awareness of design and development techniques and technology in area of responsibility.
* Advanced ability to capture and specify the functional mechatronic requirements in area of responsibility.
* Support the Engineering test & validation planning and sign off for systems in area of responsibility as well as the hardware when appropriate.
* Support Engineering release and change management process.

2. Delivery of projects
* Responsible for the creation, planning, management and delivery of the mechatronic system development plans on a weekly basis.
* Reporting of project status for area of responsibility in functional area.
* Full understanding of cross functional working with other areas of the business.
* Active participation working with suppliers for progressing project deliverables.
* Basic financial awareness of their role in the organisation.
* Knowledge of cost of parts, systems and their integration into vehicle architecture with an understanding of value engineering.
* Able to support regular testing and development outside of the UK

3. Problem Solving
* Ability to solve complex engineering and system/function related problems, with appropriate tools.
* Analysis and management of several system/function related issues to identify the root cause.
* Collect, manage and analyse data to produce reports/presentations as appropriate and progress design/functional/integration guidelines.
* Deliver presentations at appropriate level.

4. Developing and maintaining Specialist knowledge
* Responsible for keeping the local team up-to-date with technology in area of responsibility.
* Capture learning from previous experience.
* Understand and maintain liaison with Group partners to keep up to date with latest group developments.

5. Ability to work within a team
* Able to work effectively in the functional team. Support of own contribution in delivering team objectives.
* To be responsible for effective communication with the hardware, calibration and ECU owners.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
* Understanding of vehicle dynamic behaviour.
* Ability to communicate at various levels across the company in different forums.
* Understanding of vehicle electrical architecture, Software development, MatLab, Simulink, ODIS (Vehicle diagnostics), CANape.
* Experience in the validation of chassis mechatronic systems on system HIL rigs and through vehicle validation
* Ability to influence colleagues within your area of responsibility.
* Understanding of financial limits within area of responsibility.
* Able to plan effectively the system development against key milestones.
* German language advantageous.
* Ability to solve problems.

Practical & Technical Knowledge:
* Experience of delivering mechatronic system functionality into series production.
* (Advanced) Knowledge of: Software tools, Test and Measurement on vehicles and rigs
* Proficient understanding of Product Emergence Process (PEP) or other similar.
* Knowledge and experience delivering Chassis related functions to ISO26262

Qualifications:
* Engineering Degree or equivalent
* Associate membership of a relevant professional intuition preferable
