MAIN GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

Delivery of automotive engineering analysis to provide constants quality improvements to the range of product lines within client vehicle portfolio
Delivery of Meisterbock / Cubing & whole vehicle / part dimensional analysis activities to meet the requirements set out within the client Metrology Process Description and achieve the key relevant Production Emergence Plan milestones
Responsible for all activities of a designated area of the property, vehicle or parts including but not limited to, building & measurement of components, interrogation & analysis of results, defining the root cause analysis of problems & communicating conclusions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Delivery of projects

o Responsible for planning and managing project related activities on a daily basis for designated area
o Responsible for reporting of status of activities in local area
o Works cross functional to deliver project requirements for the department
o Awareness of working with suppliers (internal & external) to maturate the quality status of parts and systems

Dimensional measurement of part, property or vehicle

o Understanding of Measurement First Principles
o Understanding of fixture / vehicle build with the ability to build up designated area to correct level as set out in the PDM, AVO or RPS system
o Ability to use suitable measurement equipment to dimensionally measure, assess and create measurement reports for parts & sub systems
o Ability to interrogate fitment process during building of system, property or vehicle and basic understanding of reasons for deviation
o Awareness of Engineering release level and change management

Analysis of problems

o Analysis and management of individual dimensional / functional issues
o Ability to provide root cause of simple dimensional / functional problems
o Collect, manage and analyse data to produce analysis reports.

Developing & maintaining specialist knowledge

o Actively up to date with own technology area
o Understand relationships with group partners & measurement solution partners.

Ability to work within a team

a. Works within local team
b. Awareness of own contribution in delivering team objectives.

ROLE SPECIFIC TASKS

Ability to assess and evaluate new equipment for suitable use within the department.
Daily maintenance of measurement equipment.
Daily maintenance of measurement software.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

o Ability to communicate across the company in departmental forums
o Basic knowledge of problem solving tools and their application.
o Ability to provide basic root cause analysis of dimensional deviations for problems seen within designated part, area of property or vehicle.
o Measurement skills suitable to part, zone of responsibility on property or vehicle
o Ability to influence colleagues within your area of responsibility
o Understanding of Product Emergence Process

PRACTICAL & TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

o Working knowledge in the use optical & tactical metrology equipment
o Working knowledge of Reference points system, Engineering drawing, GD&T.
o Basic knowledge in CAD & Engineering based software in particular Catia & KVS
o Comprehensive computer literacy in particular Microsoft Excel, Word & Powerpoint.
o Comprehensive knowledge of Polyworks
o Comprehensive knowledge of Powerinspect & GOMinspect

QUALIFICATIONS

o HNC in an Engineering discipline
o Completion of recognised engineering apprenticeship
o National Physical Laboratory Training Level 1
