NVH Engineer - Powertrain

The Role:
MAIN GOALS AND OBJECTIVES
* Responsible for the Powertrain & Driveline NVH attributes delivery across the whole product lifecycle.
* Provide design direction in the development of components, systems and whole vehicle acoustic specifications to deliver the desired acoustic performance.
* Responsible for the specification and execution of test and analysis campaigns to achieve the program NVH targets.

RESPONSIBILITY/TASKS AND CUSTOMERS

1. Powertrain NVH Development
* NVH Design and development of components and systems specifications
* Challenging & influencing designs for attribute performance
* The selection of appropriate acoustic test and measurement techniques.
* NVH data acquisition, analysis and processing.
* Reporting of key findings
* Subjective assessment and correlation to objective status
* Competitor benchmarking and attribute target setting

2. Project delivery
* Plan, prioritise and manage own activities throughout a project.
* Demonstrate cross functional working with other areas of the business.
* Demonstrate an understanding of value engineering (performance/cost/weight)
* The reporting of project NVH status to cross functional and project teams.
* Status & Risk Management- identify, escalate and propose resolution

3. Problem Solving
* The analysis and management of multiple design related issues to identify the root cause.
* Design of Experiment - an ability to identify variables, define and execute to achieve the NVH, timing and cost requirements


4. Developing and maintaining Specialist knowledge
* Keeping up-to-date with technologies within your area of responsibility
* Capture learning from previous project experience.
* Develop and use the latest techniques

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Ability to communicate at various levels across the company in different forums
Design and development skills
Ability to influence colleagues within your area of responsibility
Understanding of financial limits within area of responsibility
Skills required by local area
German language preferable.
Ability to solve problems
Understanding of Health and Safety and capability to complete risk assessment in own area.



PRACTICAL & TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE
Significant/advanced knowledge of: Design and development; Test and measurement preparation; Engineering drawings; Software tools (LMS or Mueller BBM, B&K Pulse, Artemis); processing and post-processing, reporting skills, design effective influencing
Understanding of Product Emergence Process (PEP)


QUALIFICATIONS
Higher Engineering Degree or equivalent
Membership of a relevant professional intuition and Chartered Engineer status preferable
