To support the engineering team with theoretical and practical capability to determine, review and prove out design options.
To support with planning and execution of development and test activities
To support with the change management and detail and release components and systems in accordance with the technical, cost, quality and delivery targets in line with the Company's product plan.


Developing and maintaining technical knowledge/capability.
a. Self education through evaluating competitor vehicles, reading technical literature and maintaining a network of contacts within the industry and educational establishments.
b. Finding and justifying attendance at seminars and formal training courses.
c. Developing and maintaining sufficient understanding of the mechanical systems/components.

Accountable for defining and planning own work for approval by Functional Manager.
a. Develop potential feature definition in line with project specified functionality, legal, cost, weight and timing requirements.
b. Develop activity timing plan for assigned features, identifying all relevant activities and their customers/suppliers (internal and external) and obtaining their agreement/buy-in

Accountable for design of components/systems which, when introduced into production, are safe, legal and otherwise fit for purpose.
a. Identify and analyse alternative design solutions to satisfy functional, technical, legal and styling specifications, in line with engineering strategies, initially from existing supplier capability, but if necessary through initiating/conducting original design/development.
b. Through consultation/agreement with Engineer/Functional Manager, select appropriate solution.
c. Design, release and sourcing prototypes and pre-production parts of the overall system to integrate with programme requirements to satisfy agreed targets.
d. Collaborates closely with other engineers/senior engineers, particularly those who are dependent upon their control devices to operate their components/systems.
e. Plan and manage test and vehicle preparation with workshop documentation and build information providing support where appropriate

Accountable for timely parts release for prototypes and production and for timely delivery of all product engineering activities to ensure timely vehicle launch to quality and cost.
a. Responsible for the release of engineering CAD & drawings, and generation and maintenance of business & engineering documentation
b. Working with engineers and CAD designers to administer the release of engineering information such as CAD data and drawings, build instructions and Bills-of-Material (BoM) requests.
c. Liaison with BoM, CAD administration and change management teams to ensure release on schedule.
d. Establishing and managing data release schedules.
e. Use of CAD to carry out minor drawing changes


Collaborates closely with other engineers/senior engineers, particularly those who are dependent upon their control devices to operate their components/systems.


* 1 years' experience working as an engineer in the automotive industry.
* Graduates or HND min with a relevant year project and work experience.
* Good problem solving & evaluation techniques
* Excellent interpersonal skills and computer literate using MS office tools
* Experience of Powertrain Systems and development activities
* Catia V5. Knowledge of metal and Plastic forming techniques
* Working knowledge of acoustics, CFD and stress analysis
* Experience in the use of; INCA, Vector, Diagra, ODIS - desirable (or willingness to learn)


Appropriate engineering degree or experience.
Full UK driving license. BY DR driving ability desirable / willingness advantageous. Repeatable & safe driving style mandatory.
