The Role:


To undertake Testing and Measurement activities and provide a flexible service that meets the Customers' needs across the Business.
To proactively support the functional feature and system owners to achieve compliant designs through their expert theoretical and practical testing and measurement knowledge.
To undertake Certification/Development and Validation tests for Whole Vehicle Engineering and component to support all projects in Engineering sign off, PVR's and Whole Vehicle Type Approval.


1. Support and Lead Test and Measurement for assigned subjects
To work proactively with the functional feature and system owners to ensure that design and verification requirements are "designed-in" at the earliest appropriate stage and are demonstrated via e use of physical properties.

2. Delivery of projects
Responsible for a series of testing activities which can demonstrate the component or system when introduced in to production, are safe, compliant with regulations and otherwise fit for purpose (including product liability requirements) and which satisfy Manufacturing, Service and Conformity of Production requirements.
Responsible for planning, monitoring and expediting specified tests, documentation and test report

3. Problem Solving
Ability to solve complex Engineering related problems. Analysis and management of several design related issues to identify the root cause.
Collect, manage and analyse data to produce reports/presentations as appropriate and progress design guidelines. Deliver presentations at appropriate level.

4. Developing and maintaining Specialist knowledge
Responsible for keeping the local team up-to-date with technology in area of responsibility. Capture learning from previous experience. Understand and maintain liaison with VW group partners to keep up to date with latest group developments.

5. Ability to work within a team
Able to work effectively in the functional team. Support of own contribution in delivering team objectives.


Provide a professional testing service in the following disciplines;
Structural test
Vehicle instrumentation including Road load data
Durability test
Conformity of production
Safety systems including Airbags
Static crash simulation

Responsible for delivery of system approval to the appropriate market engineer
Responsible for securing evidence of component approval from responsible functions


Ability to communicate at various levels across the company in different forums
Design and development skills
Ability to influence colleagues within your area of responsibility
Understanding of financial limits within area of responsibility
Skills required by local area
German language preferable.
Ability to solve problems


Advanced knowledge of: Test and measurement or relevant subject discipline
Understanding of Product Emergence Process (PEP)


Engineering Degree or equivalent experience
Associate membership of a relevant professional institution preferable
