The Role:
The Whole Vehicle Physics department supports the design, development and launch of all car lines from concept through to launch and infield support. Whole Vehicle physics, which includes noise and vibration, design analysis & Aerodynamics, is a key part of this product development process and sits within the Whole Vehicle Engineering department.

The Test Facilities Technician ensures provision of the relevant testing facilities, equipment and resource associated with the above remit. This includes relevant outsourcing, vehicle supply, on and off-site facility scheduling and associated financial requirements (budgets, quotations etc.)

RESPONSIBILITY/TASKS AND CUSTOMERS

Facility Control:

* Control of EGP facilities
* Ensuring risk assessments are in place and equipment is fit for purpose
* 6S auditing of facilities
* Maintaining booking log for the facilities
* Outsourcing of overcapacity testing

Facilities include:
SQ suite
Full vehicle Simulator,
Modal cell,
Aerodynamics modelling cell,
VSAC/Dyno,
Analysis/equipment stores
Shake Rig

Equipment Suppy:

* Responsible for the supply of test & measurement equipment
* Accountable for planning and monitoring equipment to meet cost, timing, health & safety Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
* Responsible for the support and guidance to engineers for new techniques and technology.
* Microphone and accelerometer in house and external calibration
* Preparation and calibration of signal chain for testing
* Arrangement of external Head and LMS equipment calibration
* Consumables upkeep and tracking
* Broken equipment log and replenishment
* Test track support
* Logistic support and secure equipment shipping

Vehicle Supply and Organisation

* Maintaining and managing the project Vehicle Usage (including plan updates) and resolving requirement conflicts with internal and external departments.
* Action vehicle shipping requests
* Representation at EG fleet meetings and communication of vehicle concerns to EGP

Financial Control

* Able to create, organise, analyse and summarise budget and capacity plans and reports
* Purchase order creation, tracking and query resolution
* Management of running reports from SAP and finance systems
* Creation of strategic business cases, compiling return on investment projections
* Project manage EGP equipment, facilities, revenue and strategic projects.
* Facilitation and coordination of financial activities to support Project Managers, Functional Managers and the Head of Department.
* Create and maintain EGP dashboard to show facility, resource capacity, vehicle usage, outsource, EGP4 budget status and revenue tracking.
* Preparation of capital budget and expenditure (Capex) and Revenue budget for yearly planning rounds

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

* Able to prioritise tasks and manage own workload to meet strict deadlines.
* Matured verbal, written and electronic communication skills.
* Flexible, adaptable and pro-active in attitude to work.
* Skilled in numerical data manipulation, analysis and presentation.
* PC Skills (role specific).
* Experience in automotive industry development department - especially in acoustics & aerodynamics would be advantageous.

PRACTICAL & TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE

* Problem solving and continuous improvement techniques.
* Use and development of specialist engineering facilities and equipment on and off site.
* Programmes and reporting tools (specific to role).

QUALIFICATIONS

* Engineering/Technical/Craft Apprenticeship/NVQ or equivalent.
* Commitment to train as business requirements.
