The Role:
Main Purpose of the Role

To manage suppliers and customers, ensuring that test activities conducted both internally and externally are delivered to the required timing, cost and quality to support the objectives of the Powertrain department.

Scope of the Role

1. Project delivery
- Develop and manage the test plans, utilising both internal and external resources satisfying all test requirements.
- Ensure clear communication to customers at all time
- Manage any change to test requirements, facilitating the prioritisation of test activities and manage any arising conflicts
- Support the Functional Manager of Test Operations
- Ensure traceability through accurate documentation

2. Technical capability and capacity
- Work with the Functional Manager to ensure that technical capability and capacity is available to support Powertrain test programmes through close collaboration with internal and external suppliers
- Develop strategic relationships with counterparts in appropriate group organisations.

3. Strategy
- Propose departmental strategy for facilities, infrastructure, resources and outsourcing for review by the Functional Manager and approval by the Head of Department, to satisfy the future Powertrain test requirements to support the business objectives

4. Technical
- Develop and maintain own specialist technical knowledge/ capability to support the powertrain technical strategy

5. Management
- May be required to stand in for Functional Manager to cover illness or holiday absence

Qualifications & Experience

- Degree in appropriate Engineering discipline
- Preferably Chartered Engineer
- Significant experience in an automotive or related industry
- Project and people management skills essential
- Extensive experience of Engine, Transmissions or Emissions Testing highly desirable
- Budget management essential
- Effective communicator
