The Role:
Accountable for providing strategic direction and oversight to support the assets on all instrumentation equipment matters. Advising on the Implementation of instrumentation equipment strategies and Industry best practice.

Is a subject matter expert on instrumentation equipment across all of the company's assets and provides assurance that all instrumentation equipment policies and procedures comply with company standards and industry, legislative practices.


* The successful implementation of the full Plan - Do - Check - Act cycle and associated processes in use by the company and ensure that the assets commitments made within the safety cases and asset strategies are met across each assets lifecycle.
o Providing specialist technical support in the event of equipment failures or significant reliability issues
o Technical input to major modifications
o Development and subject matter expert of the online Spotlight system
o Technical ownership of equipment contracts
o Assist as stand in for Instrumentation Technical Authority

Key Duties

* Provide review and guidance into modifications of instrumentation equipment.
* When Contract Sponsor, technically lead the performance management of specific instrumentation equipment maintenance contracts on behalf of the assets
* Review reports covering equipment repairs and maintenance to determine problem areas. Advises Operations Managers of equipment requiring excessive repairs and recommends replacement where necessary.
* Monitor site compliance with the maintenance strategies and recommend corrective actions where appropriate
* Assist asset teams to ensure that major maintenance changes are engineered and planned safety in accordance with good operational/production practices
* Act on behalf of instrumentation Technical Authority when required
* Work with Engineering and Operations on major plant workscopes and provide maintenance input during design and commissioning stages to ensure:
(1) Appropriate planned maintenance routines are prepared, categorised and input into Tmax on completion of commissioning.
(2) Shutdown requirements are minimised or avoided
(3) Training requirements for maintenance technicians are addressed.
* Conduct periodic offshore "cold eye" observations (e.g. during otherwise planned site visits) and produce timely reports
* Keep and update all necessary equipment histories and set standards/organize data
* Define, maintain and audit maintenance guidelines, procedures and specifications
* Pursue Opex reduction initiatives
* Providing Technical assistance to asset operations teams with troubleshooting operational problems with instrumentation equipment

Education attainment & Accreditation

* Degree qualified or equivalent in relevant technical subject, preferably chartered.

Professional skills & experience

* Professional Engineer with extensive experience in the instrumentation equipment area.
* Significant experience within the offshore Oil & Gas industry within the Operational area
* Good knowledge of legislation, guidance and regulations;
* Strong commitment to both Process Safety and Personal Safety, and an understanding of the importance to business delivery of effective Planning and work execution;
* Experience in working with databases and online environment as related to Operational Systems;

Our Client is an O&G exploration and production company based in Aberdeen who operate in the North Sea. They have interests in a large number of fields, the majority of which they operate, on the UK Continental Shelf with numerous offshore installations and one onshore terminal.
