The Company:
SADARA is a Multinational Chemical company which is constructing and operating a world-scale integrated chemicals complex in Saudi Arabia. Once completed, the complex will represent the largest petrochemical facility ever built in a single phase. This will establish a world-scale manufacturing footprint that delivers a full range of value-added, performance products destined for the emerging markets of Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Eastern Europe and Africa.

The Role:
Support the development of optimization and process control activities by providing leading expertise and advice. Ensure that AC&O operations are constantly improving and up to industry standards

Functional Duties:

1. Oversee the implementation and maintenance of AC&O applications by guiding junior staff and controlling the quality levels.
2. Review the AC&O operations by conducting process assessment and recommend improvements to increase the efficiency levels.
3. Establish strong communication with APC vendor and Process technology supplier to assist in resolving critical issues pertaining to MFC, Aromatics, EO, PO and SPE/Elastomers.
4. Seek opportunities to implement/improve AC&O applications and review vendor feasibility study for new implementation of AC&O. Make value case where needed to support changes.
5. Guide department employees when faced with complex and unusual tasks and ensure proper knowledge transfer.
6. Review standards procedures and investigate new plans to lower lead times and improve control standards.
7. Support the evaluation of advanced control proposals by reviewing the technical details and making the necessary amendments.
8. Oversee external engineering services provided to Sadara to ensure the delivery of quality services according to Sadara and industry standards.
9. Keep abreast of any industry trends or new technologies in the field of optimization and control in order to maintain and improve Sadara’s processes.
10. Act as a resource for junior engineers through coaching and mentoring, as well as conducting trainings for colleagues with less experience.
11. Perform any job-related activities as requested by the immediate supervisor / manager.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
• Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering
• ISC-CAP Certified Automation Professional or Professional Engineer licensed or registered
• Total Years of Experience of 15+ in technical or plant-related role. Exposure to AspenTech APC Application is a plus. Working Knowledge of AspenTech DMCplus and Apollo non-linear modeling.
