The Company:
A major operator is seeking a 1+ year contract Accountant based in Houston, TX. The position primarily provides support to the Monthly Actual and Forecast Consolidation and Reporting Process as well as Quarterly management reporting and Annual Budget related reporting. The role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and comfort working with multiple reporting systems and excel.

The Role:
Actuals(Monthly):
• Prepare and analyze Financial and Management reports.
• Provide variance commentary from Actuals to Budget and Forecast periods.
• Review accuracy and completeness of variance commentary from Business Units.
• Review and Consolidate variance commentary from Business Units to Corporate level commentary.
• Prepare and respond to Ad-Hoc reporting requests.
• Support Finance groups with system generated reports and support schedules.
• Prepare Management presentations of results.
Forecast(Monthly):
• Monitor monthly forecast process, review consolidated forecast P&L and Balance Sheet.
• Prepare and analyze Financial and Management reports.
• Provide variance commentary from Forecast to Actuals and Budget periods.
• Review accuracy and completeness of variance commentary from Business Units.
• Review and Consolidate variance commentary from Business Units to Corporate level commentary.
• Prepare and respond to Ad-Hoc reporting requests.
• Support Finance groups with system generated reports and support schedules.
• Prepare Management presentations of results.
Budget(Annual):
• Monitor Budget process, review consolidated Budget P&L and Balance Sheet.
• Prepare and analyze Financial and Management reports.
• Prepare and respond to Ad-Hoc reporting requests.
• Support Finance groups with system generated reports and support schedules.
Other:
• Prepare Reconciliations of Balance Sheet Accounts.
• Prepare Ad-Hoc schedules and reports.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
• Minimum B.S. degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related degree


EXPERIENCE
• 5+ years within the upstream E&P sector
• Previous Consolidation or Reporting experience would be a benefit

Application/Functional
• Prior experience using Hyperion, and SAP.
• Proficient in Microsoft Applications (Excel and PowerPoint).
• Ability to understand and monitor data flows between multiple systems (SAP, BI, HFM, and HPS).
• Strong analytical skills and a high level of attention to detail.
• Strong Financial Reporting and Presentation skill.
• Prior experience in consolidation or reporting role desired.
