The Company:
With interests in over 20 UK Continental Shelf (UKCS) fields, my Client has one of the most significant exploration and production businesses in the offshore waters of the UK.

The Role:
The Accounting Manager is accountable for managing the Asset’s financial and statutory accounting. It is a key position within the Asset and is relied on to provide support to the Finance Leadership Team and Group Finance.

The job holder will also deputise for the Financial Controller during periods of absence.
The Europe E&P Accounting Manager leads the Accounting team (2 individuals) including 2 Financial Accountants. The position will liaise closely with many areas of the business including the Operated by Others and Operated teams (Asset Accountants), Performance and Planning teams and Group Finance, Regional Finance, Group Tax and Treasury.

Key accountabilities

• Monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting to Group within the stipulated deadlines
• Monthly finance inputs into the Asset’s performance report and management reporting
• Researching technical accounting matters, writing technical accounting papers and liaising with the Group technical accounting team to ensure compliance with IFRS
• Coordinate the Financial Controls Assurance (FCA) process – compliance with process documents and updating the process documents where required
• Providing general guidance on the use of SAP and BI to the wider Finance team
• Identify process improvements and efficiencies across the Finance team
• Managing the external auditor interface and audit sign off for the Asset
• Managing the Accounting team – performance appraisals, staff development, succession planning and training
• Liaising with Group Tax on tax matters that may arise from time to time
• Highly numerate with a good grasp of technical accounting issues facing the Oil and Gas Industry.
• Experience at managing external auditors
• Strong spreadsheet skills and the ability to analyse and interpret data
• Flexible team worker capable of adapting to meet tight team and personal deadlines on a regular basis
• Ability to prioritise and manage a demanding workload
• Proactive self-starter, demonstrating keen initiative
• Thorough analytical skills; strong attention to detail
• Good communication skills and a willingness to engage other areas of the organisation both in the finance community and beyond
• Strong working knowledge of SAP, BPC, BI, Excel & PowerPoint.

Essential Skills / Qualifications:
Fully qualified accountant supplemented by well-developed professional experience (ACCA or CIMA)
